I stayed at NH Amsterdam Zuid from November 14 to 22 and this was by far the most disappointing hotel experience I have had in Amsterdam. I visit this hotel several times a year and always expected a certain level of professionalism and security. What happened this time was simply unacceptable. One night we accidentally left a suitcase outside our room. By the next morning it was gone. When we approached the staff, there was no urgency, no real concern, and no willingness to help. We kept asking throughout the day if they had checked the cameras or made any effort to find out what happened. Every time the answer was the same vague line that they were still looking into it. Eventually the shift manager told us that they cannot check anything and that if we want answers we should go to the police. This was the official response from a hotel that advertises itself as high standard and located in one of the safest areas of Amsterdam. Instead of support or accountability, we got excuses and a complete dismissal of responsibility. We were even told that the hallways are a public area, so it is not their problem. I came to this hotel trusting that my stay and my belongings would be secure. Instead, I was left with the feeling that the hotel simply does not care. As a guest who stays here multiple times a year, I expected at least the minimum effort. Unfortunately, it became clear that the hotel does not respect its returning customers and offers no real assistance when something goes wrong. People considering this hotel should be aware that if anything happens to your belongings inside the hotel, you will likely be left on your own. The attitude, the lack of responsibility, and the unwillingness to take action were shocking. I will not be returning after this experience that for sure. NH you lost a returning customer!

Overall not too bad

very clean

I had a double room consisting of two single beds that were pushed together. Unfortunately, the beds were not fixed to each other, so they kept moving apart during the night, which was very uncomfortable. In addition, I was not informed that room cleaning had to be requested in advance. As a result, I did not receive any cleaning during my entire stay and had to use the same towel throughout.

Great weekend in this hotel in Amsterdam

The staff is very polite and professional, the room was quite good and clean, the gym is good, there is also the sauna available. Very good breakfast in terms of food and quality of service. The location is great, just few mins walk to Gelderlandplein shopping mall and not far from Amsterdam Zuid station. There's also a bicycle rental service. Highly recommended!

Quite comfortable and fairly easily accesible despite not being in the city center

Room and breakfast were what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Everything went smooth and they actually were nice to let me work in the room until 1PM (extended checkout). The location was close to a pretty nice park which i imagine would be nice to bike in. The fact that it was not in the city center helped me get some actual sleep for a change :)

Mediocrity at a high price

Location was alright, staff was always friendly and did their best. Busstation in front of the hotel.

Breakfast was mediocre. Food was of cheap quality. Cutlery and left food was left on the table for way too long (sometimes more than 40 minutes!). Staff was always friendly but it took them 4 tries to get my invoice correct. There was a 2cm gap underneath my room door thus spilling the always on light into my eyes during nights. Furniture does look old and bathrooms were weirdly planned (you have to walk in to the sink, close the door and then walk to the toilet. We went for a convention so prices were way too high. If you're traveling for leisure, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. For business it's alright.

Good place to stay

It was comfortable. The location is OK if you don’t mind walking by 10-15 mins to tram stop then you can easily reach to city center. There is also a bus stop in front of the hotel but then you need to change to metro or tram.

Cleaning might be improved as there were a lot of dust in the room. The self service drink snacks corner at the hotel was very expensive (6€ per beer)

Location wasn't too far from center - 20 minutes cycling there was an amazing park 15 min drive u can swim in the lake we rent a bike for 15 euro per day. good price and good bikes. room was really clean.

We were informed the breakfast was 18 euro per person and when we were paying it was 23. Maybe because we had breakfast on a Sunday, but it would be nice to have been informed prior.

An affordable option to stay in the always expensive Amsterdam

Treatment by members of the team is probably the best one I've ever received. They even knew it was my birthday so they prepared a surprise for me in my room. The chef team is absolutely amazing, particularly Hermann, who made our stay great with fabulous breakfast options, always done to the preference of the client! The room was quite comfortable, big bathroom and good wardrobes.

The location is a bit far away from the centre (~30 min public transport), but the neighborhood is safe and quite nice to walk by so it is not really problematic. Soundproofing of the rooms could be better.

Not bad if not overpriced

Spacious room

Overpriced (about 2220 EU/night/person). It is not that the hotel is bad, but one would expect more at this price and for a 4 stars The rooms feel a bit dated. It was too cold and no possibility to change the temperature in the room. Cleaning of the rooms must be asked for, if you do not ask, they do not enter the room for reasons of "privacy". At the restaurant they do not have some of the courses listed, at 21.45 I could not order anymore because the chef had already left. They do not constantly refill the part of salad food at breakfast.

Clean and comfortable

I liked the room size, bathroom , bed was extremely comfortable and fridge is a good bonus

They have a policy that to have your room cleaned the next day you have to inform the reception by 9 pm . The first night I did not do this but the next morning I informed reception that I want my room cleaned every day for the duration of my stay- 5 nights. I believe this should be the default in a 4 star hotel- you don't have to tell reception anything. Also the milk creamers were never replaced during my stay such that I bought a bottle of milk to put in the fridge

Honeymoon Made Extra Special!

We stayed at NH Amsterdam during our honeymoon and had the best experience. We originally booked a standard room but got a free upgrade to an executive suite after mentioning it was our honeymoon. They also welcomed us with chocolates, fruit, and a sweet personalized note. The Zuid district was the perfect base—peaceful, upscale, and full of local charm. We loved the calm vibe, nearby parks, and cozy cafes. It was a great escape from the city rush while still being super accessible. Highly recommend this place!!

Very quiet area, quiet and clean rooms, friendly staff.

The hotels interior looks a bit outdated especially in the hallways. There was no specific coffee maker (just a kettle for boiling water) which could have been included in this type of hotel. There is no internet tv which at this day and age can be expected.
