Charming pub styled restaurant with good service
The approach to the room is very steep and the hallway is poorly lit

Late flight cancelled and they stayed open to let us in. Gave us a free beer and wine because we’d had a rotten day.
Basic spot steep stairs to get to the room (same as everywhere in Amsterdam).

My favourite part was the breakfast. I felt it had enough options, unlike many 'budget' accommodations. My bed was comfortable and the staff was absolutely lovely and very accommodating. In a couple of occasions they went out of their way to make sure my needs were catered for. The rooms are basic but once again, this is a budget stay, not a luxury boutique hotel.
Yes, the hotel has live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays but they also have quiet rooms across the road. So I suggest giving them a call if you have an issue with this. Some guests, especially the younger ones, might actually not be annoyed by it.
My bed and bathroom were clean but the room could do with some more thorough cleaning (ie cobwebs, under the bed). My bathroom didn't have any soap.
Although I feel they could improve the rooms with very little effort, I stayed at other budget hotels and I have to say this is in line with what you get anywhere for value price.
