Stay in Alnwick.

The hostel was easy to find, close to landmarks, and in a quiet street with a bus stop outside. Car parking behind it. I was greeted cheerfully and given my key. I asked for directions and felt welcome. The double bunk bedroom with en suite facilities was bigger than expected and had a view to the castle. The heating was on, and it was just what was needed on a cold night. The bedding smelled good and was cosy. I used the kitchen and watched television in the lounge. A big hostel. A good night sleep was only slightly disturbed by the storm.

Very convenient location, clean and comfortable, though not that cheap.

Extremely clean hostel with comfortable beds and proper ensuite bathrooms in the dorm rooms. Kitchen and lounge are excellent. Lovely and warm during peak evening hours, though not at night.

There was a glitch with my booking so it showed up as still needing to be paid, and I had to show my receipt to prove I'd already paid. The 4 pm check-in time is rather late. For the price they charge, I think not providing towels free is quite stingy. The bathroom fan was loud and when there are six people using the bathroom during the night, added to the kitchen fan that can be heard upstairs, added to the bus stop right outside the window, I doubt you would get much sleep during peak season.

Great Location

Excellent town centre location. Friendly welcome. Free carparking behind the building. Warm comfortable room. You can bring your own towels or hire them at the front desk. There is a games room with pool table and a shared kitchen area. We didnt use either as were visiting family in the area and really only needed a bed for the night. We would definitely use again. Great value for money.

Love the YHAs for value and cleanliness and great locations and wonderful staff.

The bed wasn’t very comfortable. Usually love YHA beds but my bed felt very bare and old and I could feel the springs in the mattress. Bedding was lovely but mattress not so much!

Great location, friendly staff.

Pillows were rock hard, and the mattress had a dodgy spring, so it was a bit uncomfortable, so we did not sleep too well.. Otherwise, all was fine.

It is a central location. It has good kitchen facilities. The washing machine and dryer are excellent.

Youth Hostels are comfortable, well-located and easy to use and at a great price compared to hotels

The Youth Hostel is close to the main market street and convenient for transportation from the bus stop hub. The roooms are small but comfortable, the en suite shower and toilet was clean and plenty of hot water for showers. The hostel is easy to access at all hours through the single room key card.

This is generallly speaking not a common youth hostel service, but it would have beeen great to be able to leave my rolling bag with the hostel, while I explored the town. As it was I dragged my bag through Alnwick during the afternoon. The hostel closes 11-3pm, I might have worked that out for myself if I had looked, but it didn't occur to me before I booked, as I had done exactcly that at Berwick youth hostel, two days before.

Excellent location and value

Great cooking facilities and a refrigerator to store food made cooking dinner easy. Pool table, foosball and table tennis and games for the kids. Great location in the centre of town was amazing.

Our room was a bit small, but we weren't in it other than to sleep anyway.

Central location, comfy beds.

Plenty of parking round the back, easy check in, friendly staff, good ensuite, comfy beds in family room. Easy access to the communal kitchen & dining room close to our room. Good to be downstairs.

We were ground floor at the front of the building and could hear people outside but that's the nature of the building, presumably not double glazed windows. But it didn't disturb us too long. Being bunk beds, and each using lower one, I was fine overnight, but next morning when stripping bed linen off, I kept banging my head on the side of the top bunk!! Even though I had been ducking so as not to hit my head most of the time.

The self-catering kitchen is great to have.

En-suite shower/loo combined is an inconvenience, and a disturbance to others in the dormitory. Good to have a loo close by but Showers elsewhere would be better. Plus the shower in Room 8 is blocked/not draining properly.

The location - central Alnwick with a free carpark around the corner. Spacious bedroom with comfortable beds. Large bathroom with great shower. Well equipped shared kitchen and a games room to keep my son entertained.

Short stay in Alnwick YHA

The locaton was great as very close to Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens. We enjoyed the games room and ping pong. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely hostel perfectly located in Alnwick for a comfortable stay

Spacious room, ensuite bathroom - nice shower, quiet, very pleasant communal spaces especially the dining room. In a very good location and although parking isn't provided there is enough space near the hostel. Hostel provides breakfast or you can make your own. Communal kitchen was well-equipped.

Very minor points - the labels and tags for labelling food in the fridge ran out and nowhere close by to buy some. A separate freezer for re-freezing cool bag packs would have been really useful. The kitchen is very well-equipped but not enough space for food preparation - perhaps put up more shelves to store stuff to free up some counter space. I don't like too many instruction signs :-) but a few labels on where to store thongs in cutlery drawers would stop people throwing all knives, plastic items, wooden spoons etc into the same drawer so difficult to find stuff! A table or set of drawers or some surface for putting things on in the bedroom would be helpful! 16.00 is becoming the standard time for check in everywhere and it's too late when check out is 10.00 a.m.!

Lovely hostel in the centre of alnick

Property was clean and spacious, bunks were comfy and the games room was brilliant with lots of choices for different games including a free pool table. Location was super central as well whilst still being really quiet away from the pubs etc to get a good nights sleep.

A welcome place to rest, eat and sleep after an action packed day on the beach.

Comfortable bed, clean sheets and warm duvet. Having a games room. Being able to self-cater. Having a drying room. Relatively close to the beaches in the area. Being in an historic town and building. Having a piano in the hostel.

No chalk for the pool cues that we could find. The table football machine is fun but needs urgent repair to some of the play poles that the players are attached to, in fact the ones that are broken are dangerous as they extend into the chest of the opposing person playing the game!! I worry that some of the quoted prices on the YHA Hostel website are not affordable for some families, and I am of the belief that the YHA used to be all about enabling people from all backgrounds to access affordable holiday accommodation?!

Great hostel.

Great gluten free and ordinary continental breakfast good. Staff great, very helpful. Bike hub and lockers meant we could leave our cycles and belongings safely whilst we went to the Alnwick gardens .

Everything was perfect. I liked staying in the hostel. Great location. I took the bus from the train station and the bus dropped me right in front of the hotel. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout my stay. My room was clean and cozy with everything I needed. I loved the game area a great place to meet other travelers. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

There was nothing I disliked, except for something that obviously wasn’t the hostel’s fault. One guy arrived at midnight and kept disturbing the room. There were four of us in the room, but he kept opening his locker repeatedly — my bed was right next to it, so I was very disturbed. Then he started arranging his bedsheet and doing other things that made noise. After 4–5 hours, he started disturbing again, and because of all this, my sleep was badly affected. At the very least, we should have enough basic ethics to not disturb others because of our behavior. I think the hostel staff should advise incoming guests to respect other guests and try to keep disturbances in the room to a minimum.

Clean, comfortable accommodation. Well equipped kitchen.

Reception hours seem quite limited compared to other hostels we have stayed in (no one there after 7:30pm). We were able to access our room ok (key left in key safe) but couldn’t get any towels for showers etc.

Excellent Youth Hostel

Excellent breakfast - and many thanks for coping with my diary intolerance. YHA was very easy to find - the X20 bus stops right outside. No evening meals, but plenty of choice of food outlets in the town, The Castle and Gardens were within walking distance and easy to find.
