The room, pub and town were magical.

The Room!

Our room was above the bar so we heard it all until the bar closed and then up again quite early with loud voices and music playing downstairs before breakfast. Probably should be expected from a bar but good to know ahead of time.

Good location with free parking close by, the themed rooms but may not be to everyone' taste.

The spooky themed room was excellent for watching the final of celebrity traitors from bed! All the staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent, they even got Jayne's poached eggs right first time!

Some brighter bedside lights to read by would be nice. and a bit more clothes storage.

Absolutely loved this place highly recommend

From the outside this place just seems to blend in and just looks like another pub/place to stay. Once inside it’s huge and such a quirky place. We were met at reception by a lovely lady she took us to our room (5) and explained everything we needed to know. The room was stunning a huge bed which oh my goodness was so so comfy. Our daughter was on the sofa bed which was already made up and she said that was comfy too. The room has a lovely quirky witchy them to it which I loved. And the bathroom is absolutely to die for. Roll top bath huge shower cubicle beautifully done. We ate in the bar for our evening meal and breakfast was included. Both meals were very nice. Staff fantastic and quality really good. Absolutely would return to the dirty bottles and would highly recommend it too thanks

This is no reflection on the place itself as it’s out of their control. Parking. There is no parking for the place and you have to display a parking disc. Information on the car park boards was a bit confusing. There are no pay and display machines plenty ir parking wardens though so don’t think you can get away without a disc. As soon as we parked up the warden appeared. She did advise which shops we could buy a disc from. When we walked to the dirty bottles we asked the staff we parking and there is a free 24 hour stay car park just round the corner from them. We had tried this but was full. Staff did advise after 5 should be space as most use local barbers/hairdressers to park in that car park. We had our food then walked back to move the car and there were spaces thankfully. So please just be aware you can’t just park anywhere around Alnwick without a disc

Good family room for a last minute half term stay.

We had a nice spacious family room - a characterful, cosy bedroom and a very nice bathroom. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Good location in centre of town and walking distance to Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Food was solid pub grub - not spectacular but no complaints. Owned by a pub chain but nice that they have kept character of rooms from when it was independently owned - it would be nice to see those touches retained.

Great breakfast. Staff were exceptionally kind and helpful.

Dirty Bottles used to be quirky with a fantastic smokehouse menu. Sadly this has now gone and their menu is now just like everyine elses. Bedrooms had record decks and a good selection of vinyls to play, but no such equipment now in our room. Still very good but now a little blander.

I felt that not enough attention was paid to details that could have made the stay more comfortable

The staff were very friendly and the pub garden had some evening entertainment. The cooked breakfast was very good.

The room was very dark with inadequate storage and a little tired there were things that needed repairing. All the windows apart from one small one couldn't be opened which made the room very warm especially at night. There was no information in the room about the hotel, particularly in relation to emergency contact numbers and no indication in either the room or the corridors where the fire escapes were. Breakfast was generally good apart from the fact that you had to serve yourself tea and coffee from vacuum flasks that were left on the side, not what you would expect when paying £160 a night.

The central location of the hotel means that it lacks a car park of its own but there is free long term parking reasonably nearby.

Great sized bedroom and bathroom Staff couldn’t have been more friendly but willingness did not equate with execution. Room clean.

Bed creaked. No shelves near sink or bath. Nowhere around bath to put soap etc. The price charged ( expensive) does not equate with the facilities offered. Breakfast was lack lustre and had to search out a member of staff to get a hot drink. They were busy vacuuming. They are not a “hotel” but a pub offering accommodation. Wifi unreliable. No decaffeinated options for hot drinks in room. So called beer garden a building site. I couldn’t even get a fresh ( as opposed to powdered) decaf coffee in the pub.

UK Grand Experience

It was our last night in the UK and to have a room (number 1) that looked grand was fantastic!!! From the 4 poster bed to the chesterfield club chair then to the claw foot bathtub our stay was amazing.

Parking was a bit difficult as my husband has a medical condition. We parked in the car park around the corner. We were able to drop our luggage off and then park so this made it easier.
