Getting what you paid for

Location, 420 friendly ,

The honesty bar was either locked or empty, and I wasn't notified at all , when I notified the owner , she did not even bother to answer my text ,left it on read .the staff fought with me about open doors after they put on the group that we should leave doors open ,the owner had dramas with other guests and made it uncomfortable when she fights with them ,

I will never recommend this facility. I will never stay there again. The place is creepy too.

Coffee and biscuits are old and too expensive. Bed and pillows cause back ace and neck ace. Guests are drunk as facility has a self help bar. Felt very unsafe around drunk men

BEST BACKPACKERS BY THE BEACH ! HIDDEN GEM

Firstly the cape capsuals to describe them I would use the words BLISS, EUPHORIA, FEELING BLESSED, AWE-INSPIRING, SCENIC. CRRATIVE and FEELING HAPPY. I really loved the staff they are all so down to earth and accommodating towards everyone's needs and they are so relaxed (meaning they make you feel at home) the owners and staff are all so so friendly, I am still friends with them. The location is beautiful as it's a stone throw away from the beach ⛱ and a walk or if you aren't up for a walk it's a beautiful drive or train ride (although walking distance) to the hub of kalk bay which is a beautiful tourist attraction and the best place to be with the most amazing shops and restaurants situated on the ocean, which is totally iconic, creative and historical. The design of the Cape capsules backpackers is very very very creative, the mosaic walls that resemble waves are so beautiful and add such a special addition to the entire interior of the Backpackers. I loved the murals, art, and design it's really creative and innovative, as I am an artist myself, I would love to live in a house like that to be honest, the design is really authentic and unique. THE LOCATION: ESSENCE, EARTHY, SUNSHINE, HOMEY, BEAUTIFUL, VIEWS OF OUR BEAUTIFUL WORLD, OCEANIAN & FRESH OCEAN AIR. My partner and i first had a family room which was spacious and amazing with all amenities needed, with a cute little outside section with crystals and shells as decor...(everything in the Backpackers is unique the ornaments are all earthy and hand made and very African and Gyspy inspired and resembles the ocean).

I have nothing that I can say I didn't enjoy about this backpackers, I travel all over and stay all over, I'm on the highest genius level on this site (bookings.com) and I truly have zero complaints about my stay at the Cape capsules in Muizenberg.

I anticipated and ended up receiving beyond my expectations. :)

Living right across from the beach filled me with pure joy; the serene sight of the sea greeting me each morning and bidding me goodnight was an experience beyond words. Every day was a reminder of the beauty and power of nature, and being so close to the ocean's embrace made every moment feel like a cherished memory in the making. Additionally, the convenience of having restaurants and a shopping center nearby added a layer of ease to my daily life, allowing for spontaneous dining experiences and effortless retail therapy whenever desired.

I can honestly say that I've never found cause for complaint; each moment has been a delight, filled with joy and satisfaction. From the smallest details to the grandest experiences, I've relished every aspect of the journey.

the location was great

the bathroom wasn’t really clean, the “capsules” are more like handmade bunks, there’s no real ventilation and there are no lockers (you are instead asked to put your stuff in your capsule, warranted that the capsule is a bit longer to accommodate it). everything seems to be put together in DIY fashion and it’s quite kitsch, tho things look like the could fall apart at any moment, and the capsule door requires superhuman strength to be closed. the owner was a bit passive aggressive, threatening that misbehavior would result in losing a deposit. The place is covered in questionable statements, such as “no cleaning during the weekend, it’s Africa after all”. arrived, stayed for the night and as short as possible, and was happy to leave in the morning.

Privacy and unique stay in Muizenberg

I liked the concept of capsules as it gives you more privacy. It was close enough to the beach but I wished I looked at the actual location because it is a little bit of a walk to the main surf shops on surfers' corner.

There were lots of rules which is fine, there seemed to sometimes be random fees, the wifi was very bad (almost non-existent), and the doors were sticky with locks... if all of that is fine with you then its a decent place to stay :)

Pleasant

Super organized, the staff were really helpful, the place has a nice and colourful decoration, the people that were staying there were also nice. The beach is right in front of the hostel :)

- They charged an extra fee for cleaning that was not clear at all when we booked for the accomodation. I consider this really unfair because we just know about it after booking...and we have to pay more, in cash, when we get there. - the hostel has strong smell of cigaretts inside. - We didn't have water for the whole night

Horrible and disgusting "hostel" - should be shut down.

Absolutely nothing.

I've stayed at a lot of hostels before and I believe this was my worst experience so far. I believe if this place would have an inspection, it would be shut down - I am surprised it is legal for a place like this to operate as a hostel. The hostel was dirty (the sheets had stains, I had to cover them with my beach towel to be able to lay down and had to use a t-shirt as a pillow case), the room was not really a room - it is more like a sketchy wooden veranda structure they've built on top of their pizza place - where you don't even have walls. We couldn't sleep at all as the noise from the refrigerator was insanely loud during the whole night. I'm just in shock that they can operate such a horrible place and not be shut down. I would not advise ANYONE to stay here - don't make the same mistake we did! Also, as soon as you arrive, the owners give you all these extra charges you have to pay, it felt very dishonest and just a way to make a quick buck outside booking. We've asked for an early check out and ran away as early as we could - horrible, horrible experience.
