Everything, close to all the historical places.Restaurants are walking distance. Alessandra is a wonderful host. Without her our trip would be an issue but she made our life so easy.

The location was convenient and within easy reach of many of Rome’s major attractions. Having access to a washing machine was a great convenience during our stay. A larger clothes drying rack would make this even more practical for families or longer stays. The views from the apartment windows were lovely.

The apartment was more run-down and less well furnished than the advertising photos suggested. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. We stayed during a heatwave, and the main ducted air conditioning for the apartment was not working due to what we were told was “something wrong with the filter.” We only had access to two split-system air conditioners for the entire apartment, which were unable to cool the whole space. As a result, one bedroom became unbearably hot and was completely unusable. We ended up moving the mattresses from that bedroom into the dining area so we could sleep in a part of the apartment that was at least somewhat cooled by one of the split systems. When we arrived, the front bathroom had virtually no water pressure. We couldn’t flush the toilet or use the shower until we contacted the host. We were then advised to turn on the taps in the back bathroom and the kitchen to restore the water pressure. Once this workaround had been done, the pressure returned, but it was frustrating that we weren’t informed beforehand or given instructions on how to resolve the issue. The hot water temperature was set to 40°C, and we were not given any instructions on how to adjust it for a warmer shower. We eventually located the controls and sorted this out ourselves. The back bathroom had an ant infestation every afternoon and evening, and there was no insect spray or other pest control provided in the apartment. The building itself was also not as expected. It was not a secure, locked apartment building and was shared with a church. Children frequently ran through the common stairwell, and community meetings, including Alcoholics Anonymous, were held in a room adjacent to the foyer. Finally, the apartment is located on a busy street directly opposite a pub. Traffic and street noise continued for much of the night, making it difficult to sleep.
