We won't be back I'm afraid!

I chose this apartment as it was close to the beach and was advertised as having a stunning sea view. Unfortunately what wasn't mentioned was that there was scaffolding up in front of the building so the apartment actually had a very restricted sea view! Car parking was good and it was quiet. Towels and bedding were okay but the decorative throws definitely needed washing. Wifi was good.

The plug in the main bathroom wouldn't come up to drain the sink making it unusable. The equipment in the kitchen was old miss matched and had seen better days. There wasn't even a bottle opener. One of the wooden dining chairs was broken and dangerous. Every time you opened the dishwasher door the plinth below popped out. The double bed in the main bedroom was the smallest we have ever slept in and the pillows were lumpy.

Apartment to Avoid for Now, Despite Some Genuine Positives

The apartment does offer a few undeniable strengths: two bathrooms, a spacious kitchen, and complimentary toiletries such as shower gel and shampoo, which were appreciated.

Unfortunately, the overall experience was deeply disappointing. There was a clear lack of consideration from the team managing the property. No warm welcome, no personal attention, and very limited communication. This wasn’t just "frustration" as they said — it was genuine disappointment. Cleanliness was below expectations (dirty windows foe example), the kitchen was poorly equipped (very few dishes, no dish towels), and the bathroom equipment needed renovation (for example the leak from the showerhead or the bathtub didn’t drain properly). The most serious issue was the scaffolding, which entirely blocked the promising sea view and the complete lack of transparency regarding this. According to neighbors, it has been in place for some time, making its omission unacceptable. No alternative solution was offered, despite the company managing several sea-view apartments in the city. Finally, although a partial refund was promised in writing several days ago, it has still not been processed. This delay only adds to the dissatisfaction and raises concerns about the reliability of the management. I’m sharing this so future guests can make an informed decision before booking.

The property was in an excellent location , it was very clean and spacious. We liked the fact it had 2 bathrooms. Although there is no private parking there were plenty of spaces to park right outside

The only thing that spoilt our stay was the communal door lock didn’t work properly and sometimes we had to buzz other residents to let us in , which must have been annoying for them . One night it took us 10 minutes to gain entry . It is a well reported problem by the residents to the owner of the building but it has not been fixed.

Luxury appartment in great location with beautiful views of Ayr bay and Arran

Everything was of a high standard and the apartment had two bathrooms which added extra convenience to our stay. The nearness of the beach and the great views of the beach/sea and the Isle of Arran also added to the high standard.

Harris retreat Donnini Apartments

Space in this apartment was great. Balcony, great big open plan kitchen-dinner living room, washing machine, dishwasher, good heating system in when weather is bad, 2 separate bathroom as bonus.

As we were late on our journey due to traffic, check-in was stressful as the provided box with keys was in weird spot. It would be helpful to have it right next to the front door.

Location was great sea view and a short walk to town. Key pick up was easy. There is a lift in the property.flat was spacious.

Balcony needs painting walls and table dirty, living room window didn't close, it was open when we arrived, carpets and walls need freshening up, shower cubicle and shower curtain had mould. Only one tablespoon in drawer and I phoned to report it. I would have to leave the key in the bin area where I picked it up. I didn't want the inconvenience so bought plastic ones. I took the duvet out of it's cover because it was too heavy and it was covered in huge stains. I don't think the flat was inspected before our stay

4 of us stayed in the flat. There was plenty of room for us all. Very clean and spacious.

We had a sea view and no buildings in front of us. Plenty parking spaces for our cars. A short 5 minute walk into the town centre. Lift in building for easy access to 3rd floor flat. Communal area very clean

Location was great. Full sea view over to Arran, Kintyre and Bute. Superb sunset one night. Both seafront and easy walk to rown centre. Spacious lounge/kitchen diner. Quick response to request for bed linen to turn large double into two singles for our sons ( forgot to request in advance).

Travelling as couple and two children. Double bed was very comfortable but a little small. If any refurbishment planned could do without one of large bedside tables and a bigger bed.

Life changing experience narrowly avoided

Excellent stay could of turned in to a disaster, 3 year found strip of strong anti depressants behind radiator, donnini admitted cleaners didn't clean or check behind radiator,further more after my complaint this is an update 7/4/22, I was offered a £50 voucher to stay with them again however just read review from 3rd april,the apartment wasn't cleaned , opened food left in cupboards so after all my efforts they haven't even had the apartment cleaned thoroughly, they have totally disregarded me, so if you have any children I advise not to stay here , my child found very strong and lethal medicine here , and they promised never happen again however review says the apartment wasn't cleaned,please keep children away and also booking.ckm they ain't interested either, so last time il use them in my life

What a location!

The location is amazing, the extra little touches are thoughtful and the apartment is spotlessly clean! The view to Arran is stunning!

The beds are tiny, the double is really only a small double and even as 2 very slim adults, we found it so small we slept in the single beds!

Property was certainly not luxury as advertised and badly needs furnishings, beds, cutlery upgraded.

Showers are dangerous - go from cold to scalding hot and unable to regulate. Dirty dishes and cutlery in the cupboards. Beds were really uncomfortable TV was tiny Piles of spare linen and towels in crumpled heap in cupboard

Excellent location with idyllic views towards Arran. Convenient parking in front and easy access to the apartment via the lift. The property is light and airy. Plenty of dishwasher tablets 2 excellent local dining locations - Horizon hotel for Sunday lunch & The Waterfront for fish & chips

Biggest disappointment was the very small TV with very poor quality sound and a new aerial cable strung around the room to the connection by the window. Unable to watch hardly anything. Windows were very dirty and the left lounge window would not open at all. Be careful of the showers - they have a temperature mind of their own and if you switch on the bathroom extractors they screech very loudly No welcome pack unlike all self catering properties I have previously stayed in

Great location, excellent value for money, fantastic views, handy for beach.

The location is great, the beach is just across the road & views from the apartment & balcony were stunning.

The beds weren't very comfortable - they were clean but mattresses are basic. They were also quite small. Double room has a 4ft bed, single beds are 2ft 6. Sofa bed is the most comfortable.
