Sofa in the first floor can't be expanded. It's unusual. Request to do some cleaning job ourselves was also unusual. Getting to acount my wife had her arm broken - it was inconvinient. The stair are quite dangerous.

Both bedrooms are upstairs. The bathroom and toilet is downstairs. You must walk through the other bedroom to go downstairs. The garden is used as a toilet by the local cats and didn’t look like it had been cleaned up recently.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Parenthese and Amboise.

The location was fantastic and we were advised where to obtain free parking. Kitchen facilities were excellent.

We were a bit worried about the steep stairs but were very careful, especially at night. Fine for us being fit but would not suit a lot of retired people.

It was not properly advertised with the staircase leading to the bedrooms. There was no picture of the staircase. It was steep and felt dangerous every time I went up and down. We also asked the owner for a few more towels, and he was not accommodating, questioning why we needed more towels. I shower twice a day, and it would’ve been nice to have a few more towels.. we got back to the BandB late and we had to make out own beds. I was so exhausted and didn't have the energy to put the king quilt cover in the quilt, so I had to sleep with the cover as a top sheet. was glad I was only there for 3 nights. it woud have been nice to have made the beds. I am now in another BandB in paris and the beds were made

Perfect location

The location was exceptional. It was right in the middle of things, but set back so there was no noise at all. The unit is nice - very comfortable. Nice yard - it feels like you have a lot of space around you. I was given very clear instructions beforehand on how to get into the unit. Close to many restaurants and a grocery store. Bakery on the corner for breakfast pastries. **side note - I was able to get an Uber on weekends but they do not run during the week. The train station is a 1.3km / 20 minute walk

While I liked the unit, you need to be aware of the lay out. The 2 bedrooms are up a VERY steep set of stairs. Going up was fine but I was uncomfortable coming down. The only bathroom is downstairs. The bedrooms are adjacent to each other and you must walk through one to get to the other. I was given one small roll of toilet paper and when I asked if there was another, I was told that that was my " starter kit " and I had to go out to the grocery store to buy more.

Overall an enjoyable stay, but with a few negatives.

We have just spent a week at La Parenthèse. I will start my review with the positives, because there are some. The apartment is in a fantastic location being on the main pedestrian street of Amboise, but in spite of that it is quiet because it’s back from the street. It has a nice patio area and the kitchen/living area is very comfortable. The bathroom is bright and modern.

However, there are a number of negatives. We have NEVER stayed in accommodation where you are expected to make up your own bed with sheets, pillow cases and doona covers. Not what we needed at the end of a long day of travelling. And the bed itself is only a double bed, so quite narrow, and the mattress is very uncomfortable. Sleep is also difficult because of the intrusive noise of the AC. In addition, there is nothing provided - no tea bags, no coffee pods, no sugar, no milk, no shampoo, no soap save hand wash on the sink, and I suspect the washing powder was provided by a previous resident. There were 2 toilet rolls provided for our one week stay, so obviously we had to go out and buy more. And remember if you need any supplies on a Sunday afternoon the supermarket will be closed. But the real problem is the stair case - it has been mentioned in previous reviews, but it is worth repeating. It is nothing short of dangerous. It is very, very steep and the stairs themselves are quite deep. It is deceptive not to show the stairs in any of the photos advertising this accommodation. As the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs it is necessary to climb down in the night. I chose to always come down backwards (as on a ladder) to ensure I had four points of contact at all times. It is that steep. And we are fortunate enough to be reasonably fit over 70’s but if you have any mobility issues this is not the place for you to stay. It is also worth noting that the second bedroom is accessed through the first bedroom, so only really suitable for families or friends you are very comfortable sharing with.

Excellent Location and Comort

We loved the privacy of this unit as well as the spacious common areas. The availability of a/c was awesome as it can get very hot in the afternoon. Bathroom and kitchen were well-appointed, we just loved it.

Parking is a little bit of a challenge in town, but this is not unique to this property. There’s a free lot on the river bank, just do your research.

Location is phenomenal and the house is really clean and nice. Communication was excellent. A wonderful stay. Will be back one day.

The only thing that could have been better would have been a few more basics. We had to purchase washing detergent and additional toilet paper.

Nice modern, quiet, tidy gite in an excellent location in Amboise.

Modern and tidy with a washing machine and secure outdoor area. Also good space to store and charge e-bikes.

Not so good that you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other bedroom which would work for a family with children but it’s more intrusive when it’s two couples.

Great location, clean apartment but lacked comfort, especially the beds

The property was very clean and the location perfect. The kitchen was well equipped and useful to have washing facilities

The beds were extremely uncomfortable, small and we had to put the line on ourselves (which was very cheap fabric). The stairs are very steep and uneven. It was fine for us as we are in our 30s but felt worried carrying our baby up and down. Although 2 bedroom it would only be suitable for a family as the second bedroom is only accessible through the first bedroom. No bathroom upstairs

The Location and the outdoor space. Plenty of space for 2 adults. It was very clean. And the bottle of bubbles 🍾 was an added bonus

A cute apartment in a delightful location.

Location! In a gorgeous street of a gorgeous town. Had everything we needed for our stay. A nice courtyard/garden for outdoor eating. No parking outside the apartment, but free parking by the river a few minutes walk away.

Stairs were steep. Not a big deal for us, but might’ve left our cases downstairs if we’d thought of it earlier.

The stairs to the bed rooms were steep and dangerous. Not suitable for us as an elderly couple. The bedrooms were interconnected, one had to walk through one bedroom to reach the second. The property was in a pedestrian street. Moving cases over a long distance to a parked car was tiresome.

Bright, clean, charming apartment, with a well equipped kitchen. The living area is open to the kitchen, is cozy and clean and the outdoor area was pleasant in the good weather. The location is perfect for exploring the town, in walking distance to everything yet very quiet at night.

The stairs to the second floor bedrooms could be a challenge to anyone with mobility problems or to young children. You access the second bedroom by walking through the first bedroom.

A fantastic location and a clean, comfortable accomodation.

The location and quietness of the property were great. It really is in the center of Amboise and close to the bakery, cheese shop, wine store and cafes. It was clean and comfortable. We also were able to use the washer/dryer so we were able to reduce some of the clothes we needed to pack.

Reading other reviews about the stairs made us a little apprehensive, but they are fine. I admit, they are steep if you have to go downstairs during the night. The alleyway to the property can look dark before the motion light kicks on--use the flashlight on your phone and you're fine.

Exceptional

Very nice and confortable apartment on two floors and with a little garden, located in the very centre of Amboise. The whole structure was clean and spacious and we especially appreciated the bathroom with a window, which is not common in France. Although we did not meet the owners, they made us feel their assistance and availability for any need; convenient and easy key management and the auto-check in/check out mechanism, which allowed us to quickly access to the apartment even being very late in the evening

only to note that the stairs to the bedrooms on the second floor are very steep; not a problem for me, but good to know

wonderful stay in a lovely community.

this is in a very convenient location for walking around Amboise and visiting the local chateaux by foot. Pastry and bakery are just steps away. the apartment is in the middle of everything. the outdoor patio and yard were nice to have access to.

the stairs to the bedroom might be difficult for older people with mobility issues. we just left our luggage on the first floor and dressed there vs taking luggage upstairs. that was convenient for us as the bathroom is also on the first floor.

Lovely place in Amboise

Fantastic location, minutes from Chateau Royal d'Amboise, river and supermarket. Stylish apartment. Well heated. Great bathroom and kitchen with dishawasher. Smart TV and good wifi. Little outdoor area. Washing machine and dryer. Welcoming note and bottle of champagne on arrival lovely touch. Definitely would recommend as a place to stay.

The beds are of average comfort and we had to make the beds on our arrival (which we did not realise until getting ready for bed after a long day).

Die Lage ist sehr gut, mitten in dem schönen Örtchen. Das Parken und die Möglichkeit das Gepäck auszuladen waren ebenfalls gegeben. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung ist prima, die Einrichtung geschmackvoll.

Die Treppe zu den Schlafzimmern ist extrem steil, für kleine Kinder absolut gefährlich und ungeeignet. Für Erwachsene kein Problem. Von außen ist der Eingang zunächst erschreckend.Das Lokal in dem Haus mit Fenster und Tür existiert nicht mehr und sieht runtergekommen aus. Umso freudiger überrascht ist man von dem Entree zu dem kleinen Stadthaus nach innen liegend und von der Wohnung selber.

Super emplacement, idéal dans Amboise et pour sillonner la régio.

C’est notre deuxième séjour à La Parenthèse en 4 ans et nous y reviendrons avec plaisir. L’emplacement est top, en plein coeur d’Amboise sans aucun bruit et avec une terrasse et un jardin au soleil. C’est idéal pour sillonner toute la région. Merci Marion et Damien
