I only booked one night in April 2026 because I had a flight the next day in the evening . It’s a nice place to hang out all day waiting for the flight. The resort grounds are very pretty and easy to walk around. It’s about a 15-20 minute ride to the old town. Overall quiet and seemed good for families. There’s a playground for children and 5 restaurants on the resort area. Even a little “grocery store” (more like a convenient store). Not super central to old town but it’s great for a quieter experience. Staff informed me that even in high season, it does not appear too crowded. View of the sea during breakfast and outdoors on a patio. About 45 minutes from the airport during “rush hour”, 3pm-4pm. It took a while to fetch an Uber so i would recommend to book a ride in advance or give yourself plenty of time to head to get to the airport in case of any Uber delays.

Absolutely amazing hotel and loved our stay here as so many pools & restaurants and relaxing. The only downside is it is 20 mins out of the old town so if you’re staying only for few days would stay closer to old Dubrovnik. We were here 10 nights but still think next time would stay closer to President hotel or similar area.

We chose Sun Gardens Dubrovnik to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary and expected the level of service associated with a Leading Hotels of the World property. Sadly, our experience was anything but memorable. When we checked in, we informed the reception that we were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. We were told that no upgrade was possible because the hotel was supposedly fully booked. We later checked availability ourselves and found that this simply wasn’t true. Since no commercial gesture was offered, we reluctantly decided to pay a substantial supplement for a suite. After two days, however, we chose to move out of the suite because the price was simply unjustifiable and the hotel refused to make any goodwill gesture despite the special occasion. What happened next was even more disappointing. Instead of trying to improve our stay, the hotel attempted to move us into a room of a lower category than the one we had originally booked. Rather than offering an upgrade for our anniversary, they actually tried to give us a downgrade. That perfectly summarizes the customer service philosophy we experienced. The attention to detail was equally poor. A receptionist kindly told me they would send a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. I explained that I do not drink champagne. Unsurprisingly, a bottle of champagne was delivered anyway. It is a small detail, but it says everything about how little attention is actually paid to guests. The beach facilities are another major disappointment. The loungers are incredibly hard and uncomfortable—completely unworthy of a hotel claiming to be a Leading Hotels of the World property. If you want to lie comfortably on a mattress, you must pay around €100 for a beach bed. The whole experience feels like flying with a low-cost airline: the basic product is mediocre, and every element of comfort comes with an expensive extra charge. This is not what guests expect when booking a luxury resort. In reality, this feels more like a two-star hotel where you can eventually buy your way up to a four-star experience by paying for every upgrade. It certainly does not feel like a genuine five-star property, and even less like a Leading Hotels of the World hotel. Luxury is not only about beautiful buildings; it is about generosity, attention to detail, comfort and making guests feel valued. Unfortunately, throughout our stay, we experienced the exact opposite.
