This Motel cured me from ever renting a motel again... 1st outside is dirty and in desperate need of painting. But, most important my room was a mess. Several holes in both bedspreads, The walls and doors were dirty, really needed painting. Cracked floor tiles, broken ceramic soap dish in shower that was gross, and shower drain was damaged and excess ugly glue seeping out around it. Dirty toilet base, no toilet paper holder, and floor had dark hair and glitter left over from another stay. Only good was microwave and mini frig. bed was comfortable but with holes in the bedspreads, I was so grossed out with it all I couldn't sleep well and ended up checking out early. The reviews I saw were good & I thought I was lucky finding a good deal... but No. (The Ramada in Oceanside I stayed at for a couple days earlier was wonderful! )

Just like in the movies! This is your classic little Roadside Motel from a 1960's or 1970's movie. It has been recently (past 3 years) updated, so it is modest accommodations that match the rates.

Scandia is a true "Roadside Motel" like you see in the movies, 1 row of rooms, right at the roadside, which in this case happens to be the 101 N. Pacific Coast Highway in Carlsbad Village, just 1 block from the beach. It has been renovated, modestly, a few years ago. There are minimum services like a breakfast but there is A/C, Microwave, Refrigerator, Ice Machine. The prices are inline with the accommodations, and I have stayed here several times over several years.
