Really lovely Christmas retreat with some beautiful places to visit nearby .

Bakers Cottage is a warm , bright and inviting cottage . We had pretty much all the kitchen utensils and equipment needed to enjoy some home cooking . No issues with any internet WIFI as we had free 5G . We took our fire stick which was a godsend as the channels are quite basic , so might be worth considering if you like your tv .

I did book thinking we were in Cockermouth itself which was my mistake ! We do like pubs within walking distance and we were relieved when we had 2 . The locals were friendly and made us feel very welcome . We had 2 cars at the cottage . Our son’s car was less wide than our big car , so he was able to park tightly against the wall . We parked our car wherever a space became available down the street . No complaints whatsoever , just a few considerations for future guests .

Lovely location to slow down few days from the usual chaotic life.

I liked that was clean and big enough for my family.

I met the neighbours who were complaining about parking but in the end we started talking and the old man seems nicer than his wife a proper “Karen” 😂

We thought when booking the property we were in cockermouth. Ended up bring further out than we thought.

The couch in lounge too low and needs more padding. Internet was patchy.

Cosy Cottage in a great setting

Such a cute & comfortable cottage, very clean & cosy.

We had children & when we were back from a day out the WiFi was really poor.. the tv only had 1 channel that worked, so once the children were in bed we could only watch 1 channel which was poor.

Was tranquil and quiet, beautifuly decorated.

Home away from home, had everything that we needed. Nicely put together cottage, Really nice neighbours. Was a really quiet village. Everyone around were really friendly.

Good job we had a car to be able to get around as not really anything around us, one of the pubs was only open certain days and times, no where really to eat unless you jumped in the car.

Amazing property! Excellent communication with the wonderful hosts who went out of their way to make our stay baby friendly. Perfect little get away, near to Keswick and Cockermouth. The rooms were cosy and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed.

A Cosy Delight

Very warm and comfortable accommodation. Lovely large squishy sofa for relaxing at the end of a long walk. Everything was clean and well cared for.

The WiFi strength and connectivity was an issue. The owner did try every day to support us and even swapped the extender but we couldn't connect to it and the main router was in their property next door.

Fantastic property. Absolutely beautiful inside and out. Had absolutely everything we needed and in such a wonderful location for exploring the lakes. Felt like a home from home. Great to find all the leaflets for things to do and they gave us lots of inspiration.

Lovely place, but parking only for a small car

So close to Keswick and everything in that area. We loved our stay in the Lakes. Very clean house, with everything you need to cook for a week, the kitchen is amazing and just enough space for 2 people to relax.

Sofa was difficult to get out of as very low to the ground and sagging in the corner. No coffee table to put your drinks on or to play board games on in an evening while on the sofa. Outside seating was just a garden chair between the car and the bins facing the neighbours parked car. And parking was an issue, I only just got my car parked against the wall, within the line and then got told by some bloke to move it closer, and no idea who he was. Presumed he was the owner but didn't introduce himself. If you have a BIG car there is NO parking.

Superb

It was a home from home in every sense - clean,cosy, well equipped and just a short drive from many attractions and scenic locations across the northern Lakes. The village has a well stocked shop and a friendly community-run pub - a few mins walk from the property.

Parking up in the narrow space alongside the property was a challenge.

Excellent renovation of a old building giving modern facilities for our stay.

No handrail on the stairs bearing in mind most visitors have to take up/down a suitcase during the stay as well as daily trips using the stairs. Also a grab rail to be used for getting out of the bath when using the shower.

Loved the cottage ,very comfortable and warm value for money. The property was fully equipped.

The parking was very tight , and would have liked a better sitting area and we struggled with the shower but that could have just been us.

Another comfortable and pleasant stay at Bakers Cottage.

Pretty much all you need in a cottage in a good location with amenities close by at a really reasonable price. Hosts were fantastic, great communication and very accommodating.

If being picky the cottage in places could do with some TLC / Freshening up. Also as caters for 4 people, sufficient glassware would be useful too (i.e. at least 4 wine glasses)

Lovely hosts, great cottage, location good if you have a car, pubs only open at weekend.

Hosts’ communication very helpful and friendly. Cottage was clean and is finished really nicely. Two rooms with double beds which is hard to find (usually 1 double and 1 twin), with lovely cosy bedding.

It was a bit disappointing that the cleaner arrived bang on 10am and hassled us to leave when I asked for ‘just 5 mins’ to finish washing up and do a last check. Ended up leaving my birthday bouquet on the side, gutted.

It was perfect just like home.

They provided everything that you need while staying in a home away from home that’s why didn’t feel I am away from home except the scenery change. That was lovely.
