Mona`s Hostel

Mona and her sister are very kind and welcoming. Treating each guest with a glass of cold compote makes all the difference. The beds have curtains which is important. The location is close to all the interesting and essential places in the city. The breeze coming from the sea in the evenings is very pleasant.

There is no sign prohibiting smoking inside the hostel. The balcony is an extension of the dorm room and anyone who smokes on the balcony pollutes the air in the entire hostel. There is a seating area at the entrance to the hostel and in my opinion this should be the place for the smoking zone. On this important issue, Mona needs to speak out.

It was a really great stay. I appreciated my time here. They took really good care of us. It was a very nice, calm and peaceful vibe. Really easy to get along in a good part of the city. I would recommend staying here.

The place is super nice, the old lady hosting was adorable, a lot of equipment ! Great place to stay !

The Lady did not speak any english, so the conversation was a bit sketchy but other than that all was great.

The owner who spoke English disappeared. She left a person who could not relate with us. She spoke only Albanese!!!! We had one bathroom for seven women. Impossible. All the women were disappointed. The beds are old AND when you mover they make a lot of noise. Just one Air conditioner for one room. It is no the fifth floor by stairs

The hostel is located on a main street close to the drop off point for buses coming from Tirana. Follow the signs to Mona's and you'll find it easily. Mona is the sweetest - she and her family will make you feel very welcome and are available for anything you might need. They always nearby.

The toilet seat needs to be repaired or replaced, it isn't attached to the toilet itself.

It felt like home at Mona’s hostel. It’s conveniently located in the heart of town and only 5 minutes walk from the bus stop and the beach. It’s very clean with an equipped kitchen, a nice balcony to relax on and the very hospitable Mona to talk to.

Good location near the sea front and ferry to Corfu. It's a very laid back hostel, we never even met the host, but the other guests were really nice. Nice little balcony.

You have to go up a lot of steps! Unfortunately we shared with a snorer which clouded the experience somewhat

The location is perfect, super close to the beach. And the view from the balcony is really nice! Also comfortable beds

Mona was adorable Awesome view on the city and the sea (yes you have to climb up to the 5th floor but it's worth it - rooftop area included) - huge room size for the dormitory, which I had the whole for myself (off season) - very great value for the low price - good location

firstly: the pictures of the property are misleading: e.g.: the kitchen pictures are of the female dorm; in the mixed dorm there is a "kitchen" - a fridge and an old makeshift stove that are cramped right inside the dorm, between the door to the bathroom and right between beds. quite far away from any source of ventilation. There are more beds than in the property profile. Basically it´s not a hostel but an appartment packed with beds managed by a granny that doesnt speak anything but Albanian. She seems nice enough up to the point where you have some issues, then she´ll just say something "no informacion", turn a deaf ear and walk away. The main issue we had is this: the landlady (and her sister) are always around, enforcing their "bootcamp" rules, like you cannot sit on the balcony and talk at night, they would start screaming around in Albanian, threaten you with police and they actually took our alcohol and kicked us out of the appartment one night - but the balcony is the only place you can actually socialize the following night they forced everyone to go to bed early and banned alcohol; and were checking personally in short intervals of time, if everyone was asleep (at night, they would walk around beds and observe guests, which was super creepy; look if they´re sleeping); after they would make sure everyone is asleep, they would reduce the temperature of the A/C. Then, the sister of the landlady would sneak in at 6 a.m., observe the sleeping guests some more, turn off the A/C and start cleaning the appartment and balcony. Me and my friends, but also the other guests we were hanging out with, didnt feel comfortable at all; some actually left early or changed hostels; we decided to go on a boat trip on our last day. When we came back, I noticed that my locker where I had my documents and all valuables had been opened (there was another key inside it). The landlady pretended not to understand.

Mona is very kind person, she was there for every request that you have, Internet was fabolous, cleaniness too. It is the Best price-quality ratio.

Mf which turn on air conditioner for all night but that is not something that Mona cant really change, so i Won't take that as negative side, you shouldn't either too Ps.one more problem was flat which is located on 5th floor.

Mona was adorable and welcomed me with an orange juice, she even got me a pastry for breakfast one morning! It is very well located, for sure you need to climb 5 floor to get there but it’s fine! There’s a nice balcony with a beautiful view! It feels like a home!

Very lovely lady runs the place who is so kind and friendly, Mona. Very ell-located for town, beach, ferries and restaurants plus the bus stop for arriving guests.

The hot water needs some attention as there is usually not any

The most comfortable bed, very kind host. I enjoyed the balcony and the view. Ac in the room.

I liked everything. The apartment is on the top floor, so there are stairs though.

The whole experience was not nice. The rooms look nothing like online, it was impossible to find, there is one toilet for like 10 girls, even the living room had beds in it. It was dirty and I felt so unsafe. The host lady was nice but constantly just walked into our rooms and regulated everything from the aircon to where you place your bags. She would not let us close doors between rooms so the door to the living room was always open. I wouldn't call it a hostel, more like an apartment stuffed full with beds that anyone can just walk into.

Mona Attention is the best I ever had in my life staying in hostel or hotel. You feel like home, in a warm place, full of beautiful energy and safe.

Mona and her sister are lovely hosts. the hostel is in a good location with a nice balcony and good kitchen; although a bit hard to find. I just asked people around the area and they kindly directed me around the back of the building that I thought the hostel was in so it was no problem!

I had a great time during my short stay there. Mona was very welcoming and kind. The room was very clean, they provided me with a towel, and she even gifted me a welcoming drink. And even though it was a mixed dorm room, I felt very safe there.

The first day and night were lovely. In good location and quite easy to find.

No common room, so was not allowed to socialise with other travellers. When we did try to socialise on the balcony, we were locked out and booze taken from us (it was only 10:30pm). Unfortunately I misplaced a beach towel and was trying to get it back, although one of the hosts decided to confiscate my bag and ended up having to give her 700lek so I could leave. The hosts were also seen looking in peoples lockers and would come into the rooms when everyone was sleeping. We stayed for three nights and felt extremely uncomfortable on the last two nights, unfortunately we had already paid otherwise we would have gone somewhere else.

No AC, needed to sleep with the door of the balcony opened and either way it gets too hot in the bunk bed.

I felt like home. absolutely perfect!

The price is great

5 flights of stairs and a very dodgy looking entrance to the property but it’s actually ok just looks that way. Two beds in the common room! No reading lights & grubby bathroom
