About this apartment rental
Our 1928 carriage house apartment is situated in historic Beach Hill. It has been recently renovated, yet much of the original charm has been maintained. It is a perfect spot for families or small groups - close to many tourist spots yet located in a residential neighborhood.
Cowell's Beach (boogie boarding and surfing), Steamer's Lane (advanced surfing), Monterey Exploration Center, Boardwalk, wharf, Warriors basketball stadium, downtown, and West Cliff Drive (bike/walking path along the ocean) are all a quick 5 minute walk from our house.
The apartment is located in a private garden setting, away from the main street, behind our home. We hope you will love this historical neighborhood as much as we do!

Great location! We were able to walk nearly everywhere we wanted to go. Very hospitable owners. Lots of little extra touches to make the stay easy and comfortable.

it’s important to share a few observations that others may want to consider:No air conditioningThe property does not have AC. We checked in around 4:30 PM, and the indoor temperature was 79F. It didn’t begin to cool down until around 9 PM. If you’re sensitive, it’s best to plan activities outside during those hours.Parking situationThe listing mentions that “parking is available,” but this is somewhat misleading. All parking is public and first-come, first-served. We arrived on a Sunday and couldn’t find street parking within a three-block radius. We also couldn’t use the driveway to unload because another vehicle was parked there. For us, convenient parking is a major factor, so this was a significant drawback.Stairs / accessibilityThe unit is located on the second floor, which wasn’t clearly stated in the description. There are approximately 16–18 steps to access it. This could be challenging for families with small children, anyone with injuries, or guests carrying heavy luggage.Interior conditionThe interior feels quite outdated. Rusty sink and a broken doorknob.The TV is relatively small (around 34 inches) considering the viewing distance of about 15" —not a major issue, but something to keep in mind if that matters to you.Outdoor spaceThe outdoor patitio is nice, but it lacks privacy. It is very close to the owners’ area, which made us feel like we needed to keep quiet to avoid disturbing them.LocationThe location is excellent and close to many attractions
