This house has an excellent location in Montsoreau and has very nice views of the Loire river from the upper floors.
It's perfect for exploring the area West of Tours around Saumur and is easily accessible to Angers as well as chateaus such as Villandry and Azay-le-Rideau. We didn't have our bicycles and wish we had but the local walking through vineyards is still phenomenal.
The bottom floor doesn't have any view but has an excellent and very usable kitchen that is well kitted out as well as a comfortable sitting area. We made some nice meals there.
We chose to sleep on the 2nd floor over the courtyard.
The bed was very comfortable.
All the bathrooms very clean with good hot water and we enjoyed the bath.
The separate courtyard and upper garden entrances were very nice to have and we had lunch in the garden one day looking over the river.
Parking is private, behind an automatic gate but access can be a bit tricky via a very tight lane.
We were greeted by a charming young lady named Laure, who was very helpful and gave a good recommendation for wine tasting in Parnay. There was an issue with the oven not having been cleaned but she addressed it very quickly.
Our recommendations: the Sunday market in Montsoreau has a good fish stall. The boulangerie in Varennes-sur-Loire. Wine tasting at Château de Parnay's caveau de dégustation. The Apocalypse Tapestry in Angers. Abbaye Fontevraud. Walking/cycling among the local vineyards. Azay-le-Rideau. Villandry.

Amazing house and how close it is to the town centre. All you need is there. Great patisserie, mini market, every Saturday vegetable market, drink places etc and all the chateaus within 30 min drive.

Charming house in the most beautiful village at the heart of The Loire Valley.
Stylish and comfortable interior with a small but well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. A lovely enclosed courtyard on the ground level and large garden unusually located off the upper floor.
Friendly and discreet owner Luc made us very welcome and then stayed away for complete privacy.
Could not have been more pleased.

Luc's home was better than we could have expected. The care and attention to detail that went into it is obvious, and it was truly a pleasure to be able to stay there. We were able to take advantage of every level of the home, from the beautiful, sunny garden upstairs, to the spacious dining areas inside and out.
Luc was accommodating and welcoming and the home was ideally located in the town of Montsoreau. We were able to visit the château, see the mushroom caves, visit neighboring towns and enjoy a number of excellent restaurants, all by foot.
Cannot say enough wonderful things. Merci beaucoup, Luc!

We have just spent a very enjoyable week in lovely Montsoreau at Le Logis des Abbesses. The house and garden are full of surprises and the location is peaceful, but very close to all amenities. Luc was always informative and contactable before and during our stay and we would not hesitate to recommend this property, which would suit all ages.

Ideally located just a short walk from Montsoreau centre, this is a lovely property in a beautiful location. Its quirky layout takes a little getting used to at first (garden and parking at top, exit to village at bottom of the the three storeys), but this adds to the charm. The house is stylishly appointed and well-equipped. The owner, Luc, gave us a friendly welcome and does not hesitate to respond quickly to any questions. We didnt use the courtyard at ground level for breakfasts, as others have commented, because the temperature was a little too cool in the mornings at this time of year (mid to late September), but the garden at the top level was ideal for late afternoon snoozes in the sunshine once the days had warmed up (which they did - we enjoyed sunny days with temperatures up to 30C during our stay!).With a little manoeuvring in the narrow street outside, we managed to park in the courtyard on a few days, and this makes it easier to load and unload the car.A very pleasant and relaxing stay. Thank you Luc.

We had a wonderful week at Le Logis des Abbesses.
The house is full of character, yet has all the modern facilities you could need.
We had a very warm welcome from Luc and he was available to respond to any questions we had. The house is set back 100m from the centre of the village meaning you get the convenience of shops and bars without any noise or disturbance.
The village itself is beautiful, as are the surrounding towns and villages.
I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

We had a great visit in Montsoreau. The house was even nicer than the pictures and the location couldn't be better. Luc was a gracious host who met us on arrival with a bottle of cremant and preserves and he toured us around the house. He also responded quickly to a few minor questions we had about the house. The house is located very close to the main square where the market is located on Sundays. There is also a small grocery store, butcher and bakery just steps from the house. The three bedrooms were very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Perhaps our favorite place in the house was the terrace outside the kitchen which provided a perfect spot to have coffee and fresh bread as well as evening aperatifs. The week in Montsoreau at Logos Des Abbesses will go down as one of our favorite vacations.

Lovely accomodation, thoroughly enjoyed our stay in June 2018
This has got everything you need for a comfortable stay in the Loire area. Situated about a 1 minute walk from the village square and the river, this makes a great base for exploring.
The gite is well appointed with just about everything you need included. There is a courtyard outside, bit of a sun trap, with table and chairs so you can eat al fresco. Down stairs has a kitchen, cloakroom/wc and a good sized living room.1st floor has two bedrooms and a shower room, while the top floor has a bedroom and ensuite, together with the "back door" which opens to the grassed terrace. The bed we used was very comfortable (there was just 2 of us, so only used one bedroom).
Wifi was good throughout. The village is quiet, so no problem with noise at night when the windows were open.
Really the only fault that we could find was that on the last night, the battery of the smoke alarm on the top floor decided to die, so at 3am we had to disconnect it when it started that awful beep warning! That didn't spoil anything, and at least there was a smoke alarm, which is more than at some places we've stayed!
Luc is a most charming host and has obviously gone to a lot of time, effort and expense to set up a lovely holiday home. The bottle of wine and the home made plum jam on arrival was a nice touch.
Thanks Luc, we wish you every success.

A Wonderful week spent at Le Logis des Abbesses
A Wonderful week spent at Le Logis des Abbesses
We have just returned from a wonderful week at Le Logis des Abbesses. It met all our expectations and more. This is a beautiful French gite located in a pretty little village on the banks of the Loire. The gite is a mixture of traditional and contemporary finishes. The kitchen is fantastically equipped and the bathroom and ensuite finished to a high standard. The owner ‘Luc’ has paid excellent attention to detail subsequently making our stay so very comfortable. There is a fabulous garden ( that gets the sun more or less all day), a beautiful court yard just off the kitchen and good car parking space. The village has a small number of restaurants though we do advise that you book in advance. The next town ‘Saumur’ is approx 10 mins drive plus many other pretty towns such as Chinon not too far away. A car is certainly useful if staying in this village. There are beautiful walks through and around the village. Overall this is a fantastic gite with a very hospitable , welcoming and helpful owner, located in a beautiful location that we have no hesitancy in recommending.

A lovely house in a lovely village
A lovely house in a lovely village
Le Logis is a gem..a wonderful base for a Loire holiday.
The house is on 3 floors. At the top there is a double/twin room with en-suite, and on the middle floor are 2 rooms; a double and a double/twin with a shared shower/WC. On the middle floor there is also a lovely landing. On the bottom floor is the large sitting/dining room, another loo and a small kitchen. The kitchen leads out onto a lovely cobbled courtyard with a table and chairs which is where we had all our meals. The courtyard has a lockable gate about 7ft high. It is a lovely private spot. We could safely leave the bikes there, although there is also an extensive grotto off the courtyard where bikes can be stored.
It is a very short walk down the hill to the shops and the Sunday market.
Also on the upper level is a large garden for sole use of guests. Beyond that is an orchard also with a locked gate where we left the car.
The house is lovely, in that shabby-chic way. The twin beds were slightly small and very firm, and the top floor room gets very hot by evening (we had several days with temperatures >30'C).
Montsoreau is a lovely village with cream coloured houses and lots of interesting nooks and crannies. There is boucherie, fabulous boulangerie, a few cafes and decent restaurants, and a small supermarket.
There is a quayside the river and lots of easy walking & cycling. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautifully-designed /decorated house in an incredibly charming Loire Valley village
Beautifully-designed /decorated house in an incredibly charming Loire Valley village
We absolutely loved this house. It is an old house but one that has been updated and renovated to a very high standard, with great attention to detail in the interior design. Luc, our host, has obviously devoted much time and thought to the architectural features, its layout and the furnishings and decor. As explained in the other reviews, it has an interesting floor plan. The ground floor has the kitchen and living area, with a half-bath - and opens onto a cobblestone courtyard with a gated entry onto the street; the 1st floor (2nd floor for us Americans) has two bedrooms and a bathroom, while the top floor has one bedroom with its own bath - and a small area with a washing machine area and mini-fridge. Because the house is built into a hillside though, the top floor also opens onto a rooftop lawn/garden with views of the Loire and the town. The parking area also is up at this level, so we had to adjust to leaving for longer excursions from the top of the house, while we would leave for walks around town from the ground level. Hard to explain actually, but fun to get used to, and the different levels meant each of our family had room to spread out; everyone had their own little places to read and nap. The kitchen is well-equipped - with dishwasher and pots and pans. The wifi worked great - and there is a TV although we did not use it. The dining table fit all of us very comfortably, and there were also tables for sitting outside in the courtyard and up on the roof garden. The only issue we faced during our stay was one very hot day, when the top floor bedroom was very warm and not that comfortable for sleeping at night (this was also the night a bat got into the house on the top floor - but he got out again!) The other bedrooms, insulated because of being located lower down in the house, were cool. As for the location, Monstoreau is lively, despite its small size, and very pretty with many interesting views for walks. There is a small supermarket, a terrific bakery and two butchers - so we did not have trouble getting food supplies. There are several restaurants as well, and a pizza truck sets up on the edge of town on certain days during the summer. The town is near Fontevraud Abbey, Chinon, and Saumur. We walked to Candes-Saint-Martin - which itself is very charming, and went for lunch one day to Turquant. We drove to Chenonceau, which took about 1 hour. The other typical Loire sites are longer drives. We could have stayed here forever!

Well presented with nice furnishings and suitable for children too... The roof garden and the courtyard proved useful as our 6 year old played and the layout suited all as we were away with grandparents too. Truly beautiful and thanks again to Luc the owner.

Superb Holiday Home
Superb Holiday Home
A delightful house, we really enjoyed staying here. It is atmospheric and full of beautiful things, so very different from many holiday rentals.
The renovation has been sympathetic and is very much as represented on the website.
We found it to be extremely comfortable. No corners have been cut with " cheap and cheerful " furnishings, everything is of very good quality. We particularly
enjoyed the vintage pieces of furniture and, for example, the Picquot ware tea set.
2 gorgeous Le Corbusier tables to use and enjoy will perhaps help you get the idea of the remarkable standards found at " Le Logis ".
Beds and linens were very comfortable with a good supply of top quality towels which are professionally laundered along with sheets and duvet covers.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped with no corners cut but we did miss a mug for my husband's tea as he was not so happy using the lovely tea bowls. We travel with our own coffee machine and espresso size cups so it wasn't a big problem.
The house was prepared to the highest standard and was immaculately clean.
We felt we were " on holiday " from the moment we arrived as the layout is so very different. There are 30 stairs in total to the three floors but we did not find them to be a problem. You soon get used to thinking of this slightly different way of life and leave things on the right floor ! It should be noted that I am not at all nimble and cannot see very well as I am awaiting eye surgery but had no difficulty with the stairs. I found them rather fun & it's really only one extra flight compared to home!
One thing we'd like to see is a better shower on the middle floor. The existing one is adequate but not of the standard of everything else.
It was 38C when we arrived but we found the bedroom on the middle floor to be cool and comfortable.
The house felt welcoming and it seems as if the renovation has been carried out by someone who loves the property and who has a trained eye for getting things right. We were captivated by " Le Logis " and consequently spent more time in than we were anticipating. The top garden with adjacent kitchenette was a lovely spot to sit morning and evenings with coffee or a sundowner and take in the views.
Montsoreau is attractive and permits easy access to many delights. Our particular favourite was "The Priory Abbey of Notre Dame de Cunault" beautifully situated in a riverside village.
In closing I would like to offer my Congratulations to the owner.

Beautfully-decorated gite overlooking the Loire
Beautfully-decorated gite overlooking the Loire
We have just come back from a week-long stay at this lovely gite, which suited our family group (ages 17 months to 78 years!) perfectly. The layout is quite quirky - the garden is accessed from the top floor - but the rooms have been tastefully renovated and all the bedrooms (plus the bathrooms!) enjoy great views out over the rooftops of Montsoreau down to the Loire.
Lots of facilities are located within an easy walk of the gite including a boulangerie, small supermarket, several restaurants and bars, wine caves and the famous castle of Montsoreau itself.
It is ideally suited for numerous day trips - we took in Saumur, Villandry, Amboise, Chinon and Château d'Ussé while we were there but there are many other options within an hour's drive. Plus, just 5 mins up the road is Abbeye de Fontevrault, which also has a really good restuarant.
A great spot for taking in the local attractions, cycle routes and wine - we would definitely recommend it!

On resent une douceur de vivre. Les vibrations de son passé sont encore bien là. On s'y pose facilement, dès notre arrivée.
