Very unique building. We enjoyed it very much.

Amazing and interesting place! It used to be a pub, so there's a bar in the living room. Host provided peat charcoal to burn in the little fireplace. Large "commercial" kitchen that used to support the pub, so don't expect a stylish residential kitchen. That said, there are two refrigerators and lots of prep space. Bathroom is very minimal, but my grown daughters LOVED staying here with the neighbor's animals straying into our yard, the dart board in the living room, and the beautiful rustic surroundings outside of the city. Everyone got their own bed, and there was lots of room to spread out for a family of 5. Would highly recommend staying here if you want a taste of local color (**Note: if you're looking for a polished hotel or professional bed and breakfast, this is not the place.**)
There's really nothing the host could improve on - it was clean, plenty of linens, lots of kitchenware, so we had a nice home-cooked dinner. But it's best to set expectations accurately - this is an older home, with limited plumbing and a single bare-bones bathroom. The neighbor has farm animals, so there are more flies than would probably be otherwise. It's also a bit of a drive outside of town (definitely not in "walking distance" to anything!), and during certain parts of the year, transportation can be challenging - guests should plan accordingly.

easy to reach, free parking, good location, good breakfast
Bathroom not en suite, toilet and heating not working, which was known to the owner who found it amusing to relate a tale of previous guests trying to fix it and of her own attempt to glue it together instead of having it fixed properly, door can’t be closed properly because it does not sit in the frame
Bedroom with enough room for two but definitely not three „comfort triple room“?, door could not be closed properly because it does not sit in the frame - we don’t insist on protecting our belongings but we do value privacy
Kitchen units broken, missing utensils, no drinkable water in the kitchen
Dogs running around at breakfast
The general interior conveys the impression of neglect and untidiness and suggests that the owner is not reinvesting any of the income made through the b&b into the fabric of the building and its fittings.
Being on an island one is effectively held ransom, we were fortunate to find other accommodation on the mainland and an appreciative ferry operator.

Patricia was a fantastic host sharing her home with us. We had a room with a double and twin bed with an en-suite bathroom with shower /tub stocked with amenities. The room had everything you needed; Patricia went out of her way providing large bottled waters, an assortment of teas and shortbread. There was a shared kitchen and sitting area, which was nice to be able to cook your own meals. We ended our trip a day early due to impending weather and a tight itinerary but this no-frills home provides you with everything you need in a safe environment. We did have a car, which I would suggest to anyone wanting to explore the island. if you are looking for lots of action and city environment, this isn’t for you. If you want a central and quiet spot, you’ve found it. Thanks Patricia; you were awesome! And I think we made the right decision leaving early…the wind and rain would not have made a pleasant ferry ride ( if they were even running!)

Excellent, friendly host nothing was too much trouble. Patricia was lovely. The bed was so comfy, room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was amazing, so tasty and with so much choice. Parking available right outside. Amazing views from room and location is spot on for touring Orkney. We couldn't have asked for a better more homely stay in Orkney. If you are expecting a boutique hotel then this isn't for you, but if you want to be treated like a member of the family in someone's home then this is perfect 🙂. Can't recommend enough as Patricia is a brilliant host and very entertaining, couldn't fault our stay. Thank you Patricia

Trisha was an absolutely exceptional host and went beyond expectations to make us comfortable and very welcome. Breakfast was excellent with eggs that don't come any fresher and a great selection of tasty food on offer. The accommodation was very clean and homely with lots of quirky and creative detail. Trisha has made the Inn a lovely place to visit and we would definitely come again and recommend to others looking to visit Orkney.
Having to leave ....and the weather (but the house was lovely and warm!)

Trisha is a wonderful host, she wants to make you feel at home and does that by showing you around the property and gave us a really lovely room with a deep bath with a view of the sea. The bed was comfortable and we slept well there, I had a migraine and Trisha was always there to help with some great tips, her breakfasts were tasty and the best poached eggs from her chickens. I loved little Bry the jack pack who I played ball with every day, I miss the little fella. There was even a pool table there, a comfortable room to sit if you wanted and use of the fridge, cooker and microwave which is right outside the room. Thank you Trisha for everything. Donna and Greg and doggies
There was nothing we didn't like, everything was absolutely great.

There are so many things that we loved about staying at Scorrabrae. Patricia greeted us and our two mini schnauzers when we arrived and made us all feel very welcome. I had to change our arrival time on her a few times and she always responded positively to my texts. Our communication with her was always very quick and very polite. Her home is lovely and we felt very comfortable as soon as we arrived. Our room was very clean, the view was outstanding, and the beds were extremely comfortable - we slept very well! The bathroom is large and has a nice hot shower. The house is very quiet. Internet was fabulous and in fact I Skyped with my friend from Canada on one of the nights. The TV worked well. There is a kitchen to cook in if you wanted to with a fridge and stove. The whole house was very clean, warm and comfy. The very best thing of all was the breakfast!! Patricia put out a breakfast that has surpassed any B & B I have stayed at and I'm 63 years old so that is quite a few B & Bs in my lifetime. She is a wonderful cook. We hated leaving this B & B, and we would definitely recommend staying here to anyone wanting a lovely and calm stay in Orkney which is very convenient to all the sites. Thank you, Patricia, for a most enjoyable stay!
I really can't think of anything that could have made this stay better!

This charming B&B was once a pub and the old bar still remains mixed with a homely and welcoming atmosphere. Our spacious bedroom looked out over the expanse of Scapa Flow. Patricia provided us with one of the best breakfasts we have had in a B&B, incuding fresh eggs from the chickens outside. And we have had quite a few. Centred in the middle of the main island, it was ideal for exploring in any direction by car.
Cannot think of anything!

The location was perfect for easy access to Kirkwall, Stromness and the Neolithic sites. Patricia and her dogs gave us a very warm welcome to her quirky property. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and with all the amenities one could wish for, with access to fridges, a freezer, microwave and kitchen equipment. Patricia’s breakfasts were the best ever, with delicious kippers one morning!!
Some of the furniture looked rather tired in the communal area and her eclectic collection of Knick-knacks wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste.

Once you have found it, the location is a short journey from Stromness and Kirkwall and was really good with wonderful views over Scapa Flow. On arrival the owner made space for us to park up our motorcycles outside. We had a very early start to catch the first ferry in the morning, and a welcome breakfast was set out for us with cereal, juice and toast before we left. Comfortable bed, kettle and drinks facilities and TV in the room along with decent wi-fi.
I was wary of staying here just from the content of the messages we received beforehand which were way over the top. We booked a comfort 3 person room but that isn't what we got. Our room with space for one double bed was down a small corridor amongst kitchen ranges with a communal kitchen outside, a hangover from it being a former pub. The 'private' bathroom was across the corridor through the kitchen where people were cooking and eating a meal. We get that it is not a '5 star boutique hotel' that seems to be the mantra of the owner, but the most basic of rooms has a solid door with a lock on it. The door on our room was akin to a shed door on a latch. Just as I was beginning to get changed, a random stranger also staying there just opened the door and walked in to turn the kitchen light on, which was on our side of the door! I can safely say it is the only place I have ever stayed where I have had to bungee cord the door handle to the bed to maintain some degree of privacy. It gives the air of having seen better days and is probably one of the most bizarre places I have stayed.
