I just spent two nights at Stableside Hostel in York. The location is really great; the bus stop to the city center is just on the opposite side of the road and takes 10-15 minutes to reach the old city area. A great restaurant is also just 2 minutes away. I stayed in a budget single room, which really contained just the basics and was quite small. For a short stay, it was enough. Everything was clean, and the public toilets and shower area were modern and tidy. The area is peaceful. The staff was very nice and dog-friendly. I stayed with my Labrador dog. My only problem was that you could easily hear everyone who was staying in the same building as you: all the chats, doors opening and closing, and people walking in the corridor.

I needed somewhere to sleep afteran intensive wirkshop weekend in York, before a long drive home.
This was simple, basic and ideal. A warm room with a comfy bed, a sink and a kettle was exactly what I needed.
I went on my way next day refreshed.
