In May 2026, my wife and I spent 15 nights in Ireland on a wonderful driving trip that included the cities of Dublin, Kilkenny, Kinsale, Kenmare, Dingle, Galway, Westport and Trim. We spent 3 nights in Galway and, unexpectedly, Galway was our favorite stay of the trip. The Corrib House is a beautiful accommodation with a perfect location on the River Corrib. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the breakfasts were great. We stayed in the Riverside Suite, with a ground floor living room and an upper bedroom with adjoining bath. The bedroom windows offered spectacular views of the dam and salmon ladder on the River Corrib. The riverwalk along the River Corrib running between the Corrib House and the vibrant Latin Quarter, about 1/3 mile to the south, is beautiful, inviting and worth multiple trips. Galway is a university city and there were many young people about, which added to the excitement of the city. Busker Brownes was our favorite spot for food and live music in the Latin Quarter. Closer to Corrib House, we greatly enjoyed a dinner at Taquila Tacos and Cocktails which served tasty Mexican food and excellent margaritas. We took a ferry to the nearby Aran Islands one day and e-biked around Inishmore Island, which was beautiful and we highly recommend. The Aran Islands ferry detours on its return trip and runs along the Cliffs of Moher. Pro tip: On the ferry return trip, find a spot on the upper outside rail, rear of the doors to Captain's bridge, at the start of the return trip for best views of the cliffs.

Wonderful breakfast and afternoon tea.. staff was extremely personable and helpful.

The heating system in our room was not turned on until the evening and our room was cold. They supplied a plug in heater when requested but that was a funky solution. The ownership needs to allow the staff to turn on the heat earlier in the day. Parking is challenging.

Corrib House Guest Accommodation is in the perfect location in Galway, overlooking the weir, close to parking near the Cathedral, and less than 5 mins walk from nice restaurants and pubs. The Guest house itself is an old Georgian house. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. They even prepared a takeaway breakfast. The rooms are quaint and spacious.

Since it is an old building, the rooms were cool (there was an extra electric heater provided though) and we could hear conversations from the kitchen below us. Also, it was unfortunate that there was no hot water on the Saturday night. The staff did turn on the booster but it took too long to heat up the water so I had a very tepid shower. There was plenty of hot water the following morning though.
