staff service was excellent. breakfast was the best on our trip. highly recommend the ardawn house.

The room and the entire house were very quiet which was nice and the breakfast was great. It was the best breakfast of our trip and the staff were very kind.

The tv in the room didn’t have very many channels and the toilet took a long time to fill back up after use. The room got quite hot at night. It needed a lighter blanket maybe.

The place was very clean and tidy. They provided everything that you will ever need. Most of all, the staff is very friendly and welcoming! Very helpful! And when my friend left her phone in the taxi, they made sure they informed her immediately that the driver returned the phone. Breakfast was excellent!

The staff was super friendly. Not a word to say about the hosts - they were lovely. Location was fine - whilst not in the very centre, it was pretty close to get to restaurants and shops, especially since we had a car.

On Booking.com, this is listed as a 5-star accommodation, while the sign on the building itself indicates 4 stars. Having stayed in several 4- and 5-star hotels and B&Bs, I really struggle to understand either rating. The room was extremely small - we struggled to even open our suitcases on the floor. We’re both slim and could barely fit comfortably in the shower. Sound insulation was also poor; we could clearly hear people walking around on the squeaky floors above us. The Wi-Fi was so unreliable that I eventually gave up and used my mobile data instead. The staff were friendly and pleasant, but the overall service and presentation didn’t feel consistent with a 4- or 5-star establishment. For example, we were greeted at the door by a member of staff wearing slippers, and the person attending to us at breakfast was wearing sweatpants. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with the accommodation, and we had no major issues during our stay. My main concern is that expectations need to be managed better. Based on our experience, the advertised star rating + price - and particularly the 9.3 score on Booking.com - set expectations that the property simply didn’t meet.
