The palazzotto was a nice updated second floor apartment with terraces outside the living room, kitchen, and rooftop. The place was very clean, quiet (other than pigeons), and everything we needed was available. Both of our bedrooms had air conditioner (we did not use it as the weather was chilly side in spring in Matera.) The heater worked well. The location was perfect as it was close to Sassi di Matera but no stairs to navigate. In evenings, we wandered around to nearby bars to watch moonrise over Sassi area. It was really beautiful.
Stairs to second floor with no lift and the pigeons mating in a gutter above a bedroom. The noise pigeons made in the morning was so loud from 6 am and it kept going on hours. I thought of sleeping in the living room if we stayed longer. It's probably seasonal as we stayed in the spring (early March).

The appartment, which you could drive to in order to drop bags off, was literally 20 metres from the main boulevard in Matera - most of which is not accessible by car. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, and the roof terrace overlooking the city was fantastic. If you don't want to drag your bags up and down steps and alleyways but be very central, this is the perfect appartment for you. Roberto was super helpful - easy communication and gave us great recommendations for parking and restaurants.

The pictures of this property really do not do it justice! It was immaculate, beautiful, spacious, extremely well stocked, and incredibly comfortable. We picked up our adult kids in Naples who were jetlagged and exhausted. We could not have found a more perfect place to stay in Matera. The location is fantastic and extremely close to everything. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming. Our only regret was the cold weather which did not allow us to enjoy the stunning balcony and the fact that we didn’t stay longer!
