Has it all. Great find in a handy location!

Pretty much everything-great location plenty of room; quiet; dark very easy to sleep in! Shower worked well. Level access to main area was a boon with our big bags. Shop nearby (co-op) which had good stocks. Stove,oven,washing m/c all worked well.

My biggest worry is we won’t find anywhere nicer in our circumnavigation of Britain!

Perfect in every way

It was perfect, a beautiful apartment with all facilities, easy cooking, within a gentle drive from all neolithic sites, and set in glorious farmland with stunning views. Kirkwall and Stromness are lovely towns to explore, and the sunset and sunrise were sublime to view, sitting with a coffee at the kitchen window. Bonus, we had a visit from a "welcome" cat too!

Small compact apartment handily located a short hop out of Stromness. Very comfortable bed. Plentiful very hot water. Nice welcome from Alex.

A little old fashioned feeling. A bit musty smelling in the kitchen cupboards, and not the best equipped kitchen. I couldn't find any scissors and there was only one wine glass - horrors! Kitchen was adequate for our needs but might not be if you were planning any significant cooking

Spacious, Well-Equipped Flat in Stromness

We stayed in this charming flat during our visit to Orkney and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Situated on the outskirts of Stromness, it’s about a pleasant 20-minute walk into the heart of town. The property, part of a larger house, comes with the convenience of a private parking space right at the door. Inside, the flat was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped for a comfortable stay. The fully stocked American-style kitchen had everything we needed, from cutlery and cooking utensils to oil, tea, and instant coffee. The bathroom was well appointed, and the bedroom was nice and cosy. Reliable Wi-Fi covered the entire property.

It was a little bit too far from the city, but it was not an issue for us.

Lovely, well equipped apartment in Stromness

My one bedroom apartment was very well equiped, nicely decorated and very comfortable. I was traveling alone, so I didn't really need the space, but the comfortable couch and separate bedroom would be nice for a couple. (BTW, I felt totally safe by myself, even retruning to the apartment at 2AM) I especially loved all the goodies left for me (very good coffee to use with the French press, Island Games special addition ale, shortbread, other cookies, fudge, candy and including a wee Orkney flag to wave at contestants during the Island Games competions!) Also the host left maps and guidebooks, which were helpful. I also really liked having a washing machine. It was unsually sunny and hot during my visit to Scotland and I had not packed enough warm weather clothes. I highly recommend staying here, and especially staying in Stromness over Kirkwall.

The location was a bit of an uphill walk; 1.2 miles from the ferry, .7 miles from the bus stop to go to Kirkwall, the other town on the island. Not a problem at all if you have a car (easy 5 minute drive) and beautiful countryside. And not a problem for me after I dropped off my roller bag. I was very embarrased rolling it up the hill at 2 AM. It was very loud! :) I was sure the dogs would be barking, lol! But even this trip up the hill had a very good side; I saw the gloaming at 2 AM! Beautiful red glow over the hills.

Self catering. Location was pleasant but it would have been nice to be within easy walking distance of Stromness.

Only a minor point but the directions from the ferry could have been slightly better. I don’t think we were told to turn right at the Main Street in Stromness. We turned left which was the wrong direction.

Ideal apartment for two on a short break.

Location great for the main archaeological sites on Orkney. Apartment met expectations, well appointed kitchen/lounge, comfortable bedroom, onsite parking. Quiet location, lovely view over fields. Alexander was on hand for any issues which may have arisen.

A fantastic few days at the Orkney Folk Festival

A lovely place to stay, not huge but then who want's to spend time indoors when you are on Orkney?

It's a lovely walk in to Stromness but you need to be quite fit to walk back as it is over a mile uphill.

I'd stay there again

It is in best spot, just 5 mins from the ferry but out of town. The apartment was very comfortable, it was well equipped and there was nothing I needed over and above what was provided. I met Alexander when I arrived and he made sure I had all the information I needed. From the time of booking he was very quick to respond to messages.

Excellent and very comfortable stay with a lovely warm welcome.

Even although we did not meet our host, Alexander, he did everything possible to ensure a warm welcome and a comfortable stay. Amazingly, despite the current energy crisis, he had the heating and lights on for our 9pm arrival. I felt that this was a very special effort to make us feel welcome in the property. In addition, he left a bottle of wine, tea, coffee and biscuits for us as well as washing up liquid and liquid for the washing machine. We were also offered a late check out on our day of departure, which was a generous gesture. The property itself is spacious and comfortable with 2 ensuite bedrooms, one double and one triple, and a separate toilet in the hall. The living room is comfortable and has a large television with Netflix available to use at no extra charge. The kitchen is spacious and suitable for cooking, although we only used it to make cups of tea etc. The location is very good as it is within walking distance to the town, although on a hill. All in all I would rate this property highly and would recommend it for couples or a family.

Convenient location for walking into the plesant town of Stromness, nice kitchen and living room with views of horses in fields, good speakers, friendly host, games and guidebooks in the living room, en suite bathrooms in both bedrooms. Host responded promtly to all enquiries prior to our visit. Excellent WiFi.

Some more cutlery and a second key, although not necessary, would be an improvement.
