The weather!

Lovely place, well laid out, makes such good use of the available space. Hot tub was an absolute dream with all the wet weather we got through the days, lovely to have a safe, warm, cosy place to relax. Not too far a drive from Stromness (17 mins) and about 25 from Kirkwall, so easy to get around from. Would definitely recommend 👌
Tiny thing - option to light the rooms separately (wee lamp or bulbs in the smaller lights) would have been handy for when 1 person sleeping but the other awake - not a big deal at all but just if I had to mention 1 thing

An exceptional location, as long as you like uninterrupted views and almost perfect silence! The lodges are quite unobtrusive, situated by a farm on a very quiet track. There is a welcome pack of local produce, and a pretty complete kitchen. The hot tub was a surprise addition, as it's not something we look for. We were able to explore the Mainland easily from the lodge, and then loved relaxing in the evening with a great view
The lodge is small, but there is outdoor seating which we could use in the good weather. The bed is tired, as others have commented, and could do with being replaced. There is no coffee or tea making facility, apart from a kettle.

The place was clean and all on the ground floor. It wasn't a room it was a "pod". The scenery was beautiful when we arrived but the fog came in for the rest of our stay (no ones fault). The wildlife was wonderful.
1. When we got to Orkney I phoned to give an eta as I didn't want anyone waiting but I was greeted with have you seen the Ts and Cs. These were emailed over, a list of don'ts with a list of charges for breakages. No one greeted us there was a key pad. A book of instructions inside said if we had paid we agreed to the Ts and Cs !! They took their money a month before we stayed and we got the Ts and Cs when we arrived. We had paid £170 for the ferry return, they had £465 of our money so we had to stay. Then that night we had a text to say we owed another £30 for the dog and were given their bank details. With no facilities for BACS we offered cash or card. Cash was asked for and they would pick it up, next night several texts to arrange to pick up money but next day they didn't turn up. We had plans, £465 was already paid so we didn't wait but put their money in the key pad. The first night was freezing because we couldn't the heating to work, sorted next day. It was very small, when me and my husband sat on the sofa feet on the floor and the dog laid down there was little space to move. Bed attached to the wall in the kitchen area, my husband had to climb over me to get to the loo, he's in his 70s. The table had 3 chair stored in it - found that on day 2. It was too small, hosts wanted nothing but your money, 2 evenings spoilt with wanting £30, if they had met and greeted us it would have been paid on arrival. I can safely say we would never want to see their "beloved pods" again and would never recommend them. Personally we wanted self catering for 3 days to save money and it cost £495 (without food) for 3 nights. and they tell you beds must be stripped, washing up done everything tidy before you go. B&B is a great deal less with breakfast included and they strip the beds and do the cleaning.
