Amazing place!

This apartment is a real gem, beautifully decorated, extremely well equipped and so comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much and would have loved to stay longer and take advantage of this fantastic place with its beautiful garden. Rhona and Dwayne are very attentive and kind hosts and made our arrival so easy and our stay so comfortable.

It is an old stone cottage that has been completely renovated. It was beautifully done and very comfortable and perfect for a few days or a week or more.

Parking a car is a bit of a challenge. There’s not a lot of space in a big car would be probably a little too much. Winston is a small village but there is an excellent small store down the Main Street a short walk away.

The email from Booking.com advising about the exact location and key collection details did not arrive until we were on the road, so I had to call the host to get the details. She was very helpful.

Great stay at Thorvald.

The cottage was beautifully appointed with everything we needed. The bed was comfortable & the shower was great. The location was excellent & quiet. We just wish we could’ve stayed longer.

The property was excellently appointed with some really nice thoughtful touches. Not too many gimmicky nick-nacks one sometimes finds We were blessed with superb weather so didn't need to make use of the heating/cooling facilities It suited our needs perfectly.

One would have to nit-pick to find anything worthy of comment, and such things would be so subjective anyway. Due to the road works we had a bit of a trek to the "accessible parking", which would have been a pain had the weather been bad, but as we were lucky with the weather this wasn't much of a problem. No fault of the owners anyway. Likewise the noise from the roadworks would have been a nuisance had we had to stick around during the day, but we were pretty well out all day every day due to the superb weather, so again this wasn't a big deal

Apart from the initial inconvenience re: keys and spare bed...this accommodation is good.

Not applicable for a breakfast comment. The location is very convenient for sightseeing.

I was given an incorrect pin number so could not access keys. On my original booking it was written that there might be a charge for a spare bed...therefore by implication...a spare bed would be available. I believe that originally I was given incorrect information that applied to a different property. However... our hostess provided a brand new mattress and pristine bed linen and my grand-daughter slept on that on the lounge floor for the week.

We had been told how great the Orkneys are to explore and we were not disappointed.

Really liked the location as quire central to exploring the island. Also all the information that was provided for the local area was quite comprehensive. The apartment was really comfortable and fitted out to a high standard and exceptionally clean which we appreciated.

Instructions on how to work the heated towel rail would be helpful. Everything else was great a we would certainly recommend Thorvald to our friends to stay.

A cozy little cottage in a very convenient location

The location is very near to Ring of Brodgar as well as Scara Brae. The little cottage consist of everything you might need as at home. The surrounding area is very peaceful with lots of birds.

The prices are bit at the high end, especially if you request for late checkouts.

this was by far the best self catering place I have ever rented over the past 30 years and I've been in Europe and latin America. It was exceptionally well supplied with utensils , cutlery and spices. Very clean , light and airy . very design. Absolutely perfect.

Exceptional property to stay & explore Orkney - all comforts added, will return & highly recommend

What an absolutely fabulous property to have the pleasure to stay in for 3 nights. All modern and very clean and comfortable through out. Great cooking, dining, entertaining, relaxing & washing facilities too. Very highly well equipped cooking facilities with everything thought of that you could need. Added bonus: welcome pack full with ideas and information on the property & surrounding area. Finstown is small, but perfectly located to get to all the main attractions. Owner met us shortly after arrival and offered use of the hose from the basement to wash the car too - she was very friendly and welcoming. Weather was good enough to sit outside in the lovely garden at the back too. Great huge TV and excellent wi-fi. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Washing machine located in the basement, so great to minimise the noise in the property.

Microwave oven was located in the basement, which meant going outside and down steps to use. The plate for the microwave was not present, so had to keep stopping and rotating the baked potatoes manually (no big deal really for the one time I had to use the microwave).

We loved this exceptional cottage, super facilities in a great location.

Thorvald is a cottage that has been tastefully and thoughtfully renovated with all the facilities you could need, as well as a great outdoor space to relax in. While there is a local shop nearby, it is only a 10 minute drive to Kirkwall, Orkney's capital. On arrival, it was to lovely to see some local produce left by Rhona and Dwayne to welcome us as well as a folder full of useful information about the area!
