Incredible secluded paradise, which was perfect for spending carnival in Rio

Maria is an amazing and energetic host. The views from the place are stunning and you can see the Christ the Redeemer statue from the garden. We also enjoyed the BBQ area and the pool. Was a perfect secluded paradise during carnival. Complementary breakfast was also good. Would rate the stay 10/10!

The airconditioning was unfortunately not working one of the nights due to a power outage. Nothing within the control of the host however, but more regarding the reliability of the Santa Teresa municipality.

Great stay at a beautiful, special home in Santa Teresa.

Breakfast was wonderful, fresh fruit and coffee and cheese and Maria Teresa was very accommodating to my dietary needs. The two cats, gardens, and views were incredible and everything was looked after. Great stay, great house, great neighborhood, wonderful host. Would book again.

This is no fault - and actually a valuable selling point of the property - but it is located in a very special neighborhood high up in the hills of Santa Teresa. I had some trouble booking late night Ubers to go home. I primarily used Ubermotos, bus, and walking as my main means of transportation.

Lovely!

the host Marisa and her mother, neighbors were very nice and I was traveling by myself so made me feel warm. Amazing views, house and breakfast. Good location to explore the city. I truly recommend to stay, I’d love to come back. Also, Marisa introduced me the tour guide lady named Dolores. If you wanna tour with her, also the option! Thank you guys again for making my trip memorable!!

In the Casa Vermelha you experience the absolute best of the magical and unique Santa Teresa.

The breakfast was excellent with a very nice selection of tropical fruits, cheeses, bread, juice, coffee and scrambled eggs. Also excellent goiaba jam made by the owner Teresa's mother. The views of the Christ statue on Corcovado mountain from Casa Vermelha are stupendous. Teresa herself is a lovely person, always willing to share her great knowledge of Santa Teresa, Rio and Brasil with her guests. She also very kindly made excellent caipirinhas for our group of six. There was no charge. She is a very generous woman and an excellent host. Thank you Teresa!

Leaving her beautiful home was the only thing I didn't like! Nothing more to say here.

Wonderful place and location, especially if you don’t want the usual hotel experience

Great location in Saint Theresa, close to tram line, walking distance to metro, and some ok restaurants and bars nearby. House is characterful, with views of Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer). Marie Theresa and her mum could not be more helpful and hospitable

Staying here is more like staying with family than in a hotel. A bit chaotic, don’t expect everything to work, the pool was full of petals (bit cold this time of year, anyway), breakfast time depends on when the host gets up,

Beaufitufl property, beautiful location, beautiful people with a real social conscience.

Everything! A beautiful property and house, owned and operated by beautiful people who go way out of their way to make you feel like family. I was particularly enthralled by the intelligent discussions that we had together, not only with the "Marias" but also with other guests over the exceptional high quality breakfasts.

Santa Teresa is a little bit far from many of the beaches and iconic attractions of Rio. However, Uber is readily available and although the drivers were a little mystified by the labyrinth cobblestone streets we always made it with no problem at all. It's really just a point to be aware of. Santa Teresa itself is a very, very cool little neighbourhood that is easily within walking distance from Casa Vermehlha. Certainly, I would choose to stay here again if ever I make it back to Rio (which I definitely hope to).

Amazing location, beautiful old house, good for a couple of nights stay

This is a traditional experience in a Brazilian home which for 1-2 nights is amazing. Loved the area, Maria the host and her beautiful old house. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Overall a good experience , if a little out of our comfort zone

The property being authentic does not have the comforts of a hotel and sharing a bathroom was a little bit of a shock. As we stayed for 4 nights not having anywhere at all to hang a single thing up was a little difficult

A green oasis with warm hosts

Our stay was perfect! It felt like at home. Maria Teresa is a charming lady and we felt like visiting a friend. They helped us with everything and gave superb reccomendations. The breakfasts in the kitchen with a view to the hills made it very special. The location is lovely, with scenic views and lovely bars. It is a well kept unique oasis in the middle of Rio, where you can rest before or after visiting a noisy city. I would definitely stay there again!

This was one of the best guest houses I’ve ever stayed in! The host was amazing — super friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious, the view is incredible, the location is great. I will definitely stay here again if I go back to Rio!

it’s not really a hotel or a guesthouse. it’s more like an air b n b. the room I had was very small and is right next to the kitchen so there’s no privacy. plus, when I arrived late, there was a very big party happening on site. as well as that, I was kind of expected to have breakfast at the same time as other guests. while I was there, the house was used to host a party, and in the morning, she was having a business meeting with a couple who wanted to rent the venue for a party and she was more preoccupied with them during breakfast, and on the last morning, there was a photographer who was using the house for a photoshoot. there was a lot of noise constantly coming from surrounding neighbours.

Perfect place for a quiet and authentic stay in Brazil

Casa Vermelha was an outstanding experience. I loved the location (close to Lapa, sambodromo, botafogo, Airport). We were wrapping up our trip, so decided to stay in Santa Teresa to be close to the airport. Casa Vermelha didnt just offer a comfortable private space, but the whole experience was super unique and very positive. The architecture of the house, the great view of the city from the backyard, and the amazing host Maria Teresa made our stay super memorable and full of great memories. She made us feel like we were part of the family, but also allowed us to have our own privacy when we needed it. If you are looking for an authentic place to stay, with all the basic comforts covered, a great view of the city, and a super friendly host, I will strongly recommend you to consider Casa Vermelha. I am planning to return to this place when i get back to Brazil

Unique B&B in one of Rio‘s most charming neighborhoods

Maria Teresa, her mother and her aunt were really welcoming and made us feel right at home. The colonial house and its garden is absolutely amazing with great views on the city. The neighborhood in Santa Teresa is certainly one of the most beautiful ones in the city. We can only recommend to stay at Casa Vermelha.

Maria gave us good advice on where to go in Rio. The breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed our discussions with Maria each morning.

I felt welcomed

I can't say enough good things about the hostess and her family. They were welcoming, caring, kind and helpful and I was grateful to have them at my hosts. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous and the views are magnificent.

It was a little bit difficult to get transportation down into Centro and while the location is beautiful it is far from the main tourist attractions

Colazione disorganizzata caffè e dopo mezz'ora il latte Panettone di piu giorni

La casa sarebbe un gioiello con una bella veranda e un giardino, se non fosse per una gestione famigliare. Unico problema che non essendo parenti e pagando ci si aspettava un servizio adeguato al prezzo 3 giorni con il bagno condiviso , mai pulito, idem per la camera e gli spazi comuni,nessun cambio di biancheria. Pessima idea di fare lavare i vestiti, tutto rovinato perché hanno mischiato i colori, la padrona al posto di scusarsi ci ha incolpato che gli abbiamo dato gli abiti umidi ( nuovi di pacca comprati al mattino , volevamo solo ri frescarli) abbiamo pagato 50 euro , ha calcolato una colazione del nostro arrivo anticipato ( il giorno dopo non abbiamo fatta) Avrebbe dovuto abbuonarci se non risarcirci dei danni compresa la colazione del primo giorno Litigano madre e figlia come se fossero da sole disturbando gli avventori, gatti che vomitano in casa Arredamento vecchio, bagno sporchissimo, condizionatore perdeva acqua in camera e" ci ha bagnato lo zaino
