Stybeck Farm Shephards Hut

The location afforded a magnificent view of the hills and was quite gorgeous. The hut was quite basic but did have a working series of power outlets and a microwave. I thought the bed was comfortable and the hut was charming. In Summer weather, I think that

The reception was not overly welcoming. Apparently the lady who deals with guests had popped out for an hour, so we missed her. The hut is charming, very basic and it was cold. There was a heater which, did not take long to warm the hut up, but you had to keep turning it on and off again, because the hut then got too hot. What I didn't like is that the toilets were very basic and the shower, although hot, was basic and cramped. Shaving was a bit of an effort as there were little sinks. It is also quite a noisy, working farm with a great dog chorus throughout the day barking from a barn near the hut.

Great place to set off up Helvellyn, lovely hit with everything you could need. The host even included sachets to make hot drinks and soup with. Cannot recommend high enough

Gorgeous location, the hut had all you need, water microwave plates etc, we had a wonderful stay and walk. Super cozy and warm :)

Our only quarm was there’s no nearby shops for food etc, and the only pub within a few miles was closed! So make sure you do a small shop in Keswick.

Location, provision of appliances and the bed was comfortable.

The farm residents had dogs which were kept in the outdoor building next to the hut and dogs were barking throughout the evening and from 5.30am. Also the fly tape hanging down next to the bed with lots of dead flies on wasn’t that great. But also appreciate the heat brings out flies.
