Cosy stone cottage in an exceptional location. Beds were comfortable and a good strong shower. Downstairs kept beautifully cool naturally, in the very hot weather.

I always like it when the host has considered how you will use the kitchen on your brief stay, but there was none of that, no basics like salt and pepper or foil for the grill pan. A single cheap loo roll for a full week (2 double beds = up to four people) seems similarly ungenerous. But the biggest disappointment for us was that the pictured garden, with picnic table, doesn't belong to the cottage. There is no private enclosed garden, which is a shame because that influenced my choice of booking significantly. There is a small grassy patch at the front with a bench, next to the car parking spot.

Location perfect and thoughtful touches such as tea bags and coffee were welcome. Bedding lovely and views from back bedroom were superb.

Had difficulty with the flush handle on the loo which had a mind of its own. Rang helpline at start of stay for bleeping alarm, very, very annoying and long winded process to get through. However, once contact made, repair man was with us within 30 minutes, very efficient and helpful. Thank you.

The location was excellent in the centre of Threlkeld, handy for walking and sight seeing. The kitchen is well appointed and the bedrooms small but comfortable - beds very good! The sloping bathroom floor enabled us to feel drunk without any alcohol consumption. Small garden at front allowed us to sit out though the weather was rather blustery while we were there.

Although the kitchen is very well appointed, the range of equipment provided meant that there was limited storage space for actual foodstuff. For us this was not an issue as we either ate out, or ate cook chill pre prepared meals. Sadly there is no access to the attractive rear garden, which only has access from the neighbouring rental. It should be noted that the Horse and Farrier, in the village, does good food but does need to be booked in advance - even mid-week out of season.

Brilliant location, very cosy and comfortable cottage.
