A gem of a place to stay in the heart of Hermanus

I love the central location of the Vishuis. I have stayed here on a number of occasions and it's a really comfortable place to stay. It's in a secure gated area and there is off street secure parking. It's walkable to everywhere in the town. The cottages are tastefully decorated with some nice artwork. Marc is a great host and very accommodating. There's free tea, coffee, sugar and snacks available. My friends were in the one bedroom cottage, which has the added benefit of being able to get together to cook and eat. There was an abundance of crockery, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans.

The only thing I didn't like was having to leave :(

Marc is an exceptionally warm, friendly, and uncomplicated host. From the very first moment, we felt welcome and well taken care of. His tips (where to go, where to ride our MTB) were fantastic, and his incredible eye for design and detail is reflected in every corner of The Vishuis — beautifully styled, lovingly maintained, and full of character. The charming little house is tastefully and artistically decorated and located in a wonderfully quiet and safe area, within easy walking distance to the ocean. Waking up there feels peaceful and inspiring. A Nespresso machine is provided, and there are plenty of lovely cafés nearby for a relaxed breakfast. This is a truly special place with a creative soul — we can wholeheartedly recommend this unique accommodation and would return in a heartbeat.

A wonderful affordable property in central Hermanus.

Everything, it suited us (an elderly couple) perfectly. Marc was welcoming both on arrival and departure. A couple of questions prior to our stay were answered rapidly. I can’t remember a larger shower. The living area is huge. The art work was fascinating, the courtyard delightful. The position of the accommodation was a very short walk away from central Hermanus. Marc offered wise suggestions about the use of our time.

What a fantastic place to stay! Marc greeted us in person to show us around and give us lots of great tips and recommendations. The owners are clearly very proud of their property and treat it with care and consideration. The villa was gorgeously decorated with really nice art and plenty of style and character. Walking distance to the sea and restaurants. Highly recommend!

Perfect stay in the centre of Hermanus… warmly greeted by Marc upon arrival, beautiful interior and garden. Safe and secure parking on site. Walking distance to the cliff path, quiet, clean,… everything you could wish for.

Room can feel a bit cold in the morning, but heating and fireplace are provided.

A blissful breakaway in a lovely little cottage with all loads of comforts and great amenities on the doorstep.

Fantastic location - you can simply walk out the door to little coffee shops, the beach front and town centre. The cottage had loads of thoughtful touches and was so comfortable. Safe parking for the car (we didn’t need it the whole time we were there) and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. Everything was also super clean and neat.

Absolutely fantastic and delightful place!

From the very first minute you feel surrounded by care and safety. Marc, the owner, is a truly pleasant and welcoming person. As a creative soul, I felt completely at home here: everything is so beautiful, clean, cozy, with lots of artistic details. Loved it! Every evening it was such a pleasure to enjoy our time in front of the fireplace. Strongly recommend!

Wonderful stay in Hermanus

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at The Vishuis. The location was perfect and we could walk to the waterfront where there are many restaurants and the clifftop pathway. We enjoyed the town and especially walking along the cliffs. The location is quiet and Marc is a hands on host meeting you upon arrival and showing you around your suite and how the gates work. It was fabulous to have secure parking this close to the ocean so we did not need to move our car. Marc was really helpful with restaurant and activity recommendations.

Marc is a great host, the room is very spacious with so much attention to detail. If you're visiting in winter, the logburner and the very nicely hot shower will cosy you up in Hermanus winds.

Beautifully designed interior, central location, secure parking, the friendly host and the log burner with plentiful logs as we stayed in winter and it was pretty cold.

The cold bathroom! We had load-shedding which did not help.

Enjoyable, great location

Breakfast was not available but there are plenty of coffee shops within a short walk. The facilities were fine for a short stay and for longer stays, I would suggest you book Fishermans Cottage which offers the best accommodation. The bonus was the host Marc, extremely helpful and friendly. The location is good within a 5-minute walk you are in the hub of Hermanus. Take a short trip to Grotto beach and enjoy lunch there

There was nothing to dislike, there is an element of overlooking in the courtyard which could affect privacy
