Easy to get to by car and a lot to do in the area so very central. Very safe atmosphere inside. Beds and room are clean and comfortable. Staff are accommodating and kind. You’re paying for a hostel and it is a hostel. You can check in out of hours but you do have to inform the staff beforehand but it was very easy to get through to reception on the phone. Breakfast was excellent and definitely above and beyond what you’d expect from the price you’re paying. You have to make and strip the beds which I believe is usual for hostels in Germany so isn’t a negative but I don’t think it’s advertised.

The method of checking in out of hours is that the staff leave the key on the table of your unlocked room. Although I appreciate the accommodation of being able to check in late, i feel maybe a lock box with a code would be a lot safer as with the current method anyone can walk from the street to the unlocked bedroom without a key. Appreciate that worked well for us but it’s just a suggestion to improve safety as we did have to check the room before sleeping because anyone could have gone in. A few other reviews mention the city tax and the hostel membership which you do have to pay on top of your reservation. Again I’m not sure if this is normal in Germany but sure it probably is. This is per person and for two people for one night we paid €13 altogether. It’s not really the hostels fault but I don’t think you’re told about it you receive a message after you book. Although it’s quite cheap it does mean for a longer stay this really builds up and potentially it becomes the same price as a hotel in the area. We had an issue with the toilet in our room backflowing from other toilets in the property, potentially because it’s such a large property. To give credit to the staff we could only inform them in the morning and they were incredibly apologetic but it does show it’s an old building and there’s things breaking. All this being said for one night in the area it was the cheapest option and it is advertised as a hostel - just things to be aware of.

The dorms were spacious, and there were big lockers for you to keep your belongings. There was a lovely mountain view out of the window. The breakfast was great with a huge variety to choose from - ham, cheese, vegetables, bread, spreads, yoghurt, cereal, granola, juice, even mini pancakes which were very popular with the children. The receptionist was helpful in recommending things to see and do.

There were only three sockets for eight people in the dorm but it was never really a problem - we just took turns and shared. The location was a bit inconvenient - a 30 minute walk (including a rather steep slope!) from the train station, but it was still possible to access different hikes with the free buses.

Very accessible, clean, everything I needed was there. The grounds & garden where amazing , the breakfast hall was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was the best breakfast I ever had in any property I visited. It was plenty it was fresh. The coffee was suburb that was not one thing I could’ve foulted. We had a slight issue and concern and the staff dealt with it promptly and efficiently and made us feel cared for and safe.

The location was unexpected. The whole place was so dark. There is no street lights and we were shocked that there is no transportation going to the hotel itself since the road is on repair. We walked through the dark pathway and did a little hiking going to the hotel. It was our first time there thats why we were so frightened. To add, it was a hotel for young ones and they were so noisy even at the middle of the night. We didn’t have a restful night. But to be fair the breakfast is good and We really love the view.
