Stay KooooK Bern City - Online Check In

Location is prime. Right in the city centre of Bern. Everything is in walking distance. Parking is also convenient, just around the corner from the hotel. Hotel guests get a discounted parking fee of around CHF 23. The room is neat and tidy. Family room is not big, but that’s expected for a hotel in city centre. A nice hotel for a short stay or stopover.

We visited Bern in the summer, and Stay KooooK was the cheapest hotel option with AC at the time. Honestly though, it didn't feel like a cheap compromise at all! Even before checking in, I could message the host directly on WhatsApp for help, and they replied super fast. The location is super close to Bern's main spots, with Migros and COOP right across the street. The host stays on top of cleaning, and the other guests were really considerate, so the shared kitchen and lounge were always spotless. It was fully stocked with cookware, coffee, and tea. The host even let us borrow dry bags for free (and thoughtfully packed towels inside!) so we could try floating down the Aare River! The room isn't huge, but with a bit of squeezing, we managed to fully open two 28-inch suitcases. The hooks and power outlets were super conveniently placed. The toilet, sink, and shower are all separate, which was awesome for two girls trying to get our makeup done at the same time. Just a heads-up: you can kind of see into the shower from the sink area, and there's no shelf inside the shower itself, so you have to reach outside the door to grab your clothes. Keep that in mind if that bothers you. If you use the main entrance, you have to walk up a few stairs to get to some rooms. But shortcut tip: if you go through the back door (just one shop over from the front door), you can take the elevator straight up! One morning, the street restaurants were doing deep cleaning (vacuuming out sewage/poop!), so the whole hotel and our room smelled pretty bad for a bit. Not sure if this happens often or in other parts of town, but the host was super attentive when we and other guests asked about it. Plus, the smell cleared out quickly, so it was just a minor, acceptable hiccup. Overall, I'd totally recommend Stay KooooK!

A great place in the heart of the city! The staff members were friendly. Matthias helped me plan my Interlaken itinerary and provided great pointers. The communal fridge, kitchen and dining area were nice and buzzing with people at breakfast times. The room was quiet and functional.

This is, without a doubt, one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. This hotel operates a 100% self-check-in system; however, the self-check-in system did not work. So I sent a message to the hotel, but no one responded via phone call or text. I had to use the intercom to reach a receptionist wearing glasses around 6:00 pm on August 25th. She told me that the hotel could not send the booking number to customers like me since I had booked through Agoda. When I suggested it would be much more convenient for the hotel to notify guests in advance—through Agoda or any other means—she insisted that, for reasons she did not know, the hotel could not send messages via Agoda. Considering the hotel has numerous reviews and bookings on Agoda, I found this explanation hard to believe. Even if Agoda messaging doesn’t work, the hotel could have sent the booking code by email. It was clearly a poor excuse. She then blamed me for booking through Agoda rather than the hotel’s website and asked if I wanted to cancel my reservation. At that point, I was understandably frustrated by her shameless and rude attitude and told her, "I do not like your attitude". She audaciously replied, “You are not very nice.” A hotel that cannot provide a booking code in a 100% self-check-in system and instead blames the customer is completely unacceptable. This receptionist clearly needs to learn proper communication skills.
