Beautiful hotel in the middle of vineyards with a fabulous restaurant!

Gorgeous hotel in the middle of vineyards. Our room was large with a wonderful shower and great views. The restaurant was amazing including breakfast and we loved the cellar tour. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Romantic hideaway with incredible style

We really loved our stay at Podere Castel Merlo Resort – it’s honestly one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed! The hotel is beautifully decorated and set in a truly stunning location; the grounds themselves are absolutely gorgeous. The staff were wonderful, and as we were visiting for our honeymoon, they very kindly upgraded our room and gifted us a bottle of their local wine to celebrate – such a thoughtful and special touch. The resort offers a peaceful, luxurious atmosphere, with a pool available for guests (though we didn’t use it) and breakfast included. The hotel also seems to be a popular venue for conferences – there were a few held during our stay – though this didn’t affect the peaceful atmosphere at all. Overall, we had a truly relaxing and luxurious stay, and would absolutely recommend Podere Castel Merlo Resort to anyone looking for a beautiful, tranquil escape – just be aware that it’s a quiet spot with limited things to do nearby.

The breakfast was a little underwhelming – there were pastries and cereals available, but cooked items such as eggs came at an additional cost, which felt a bit surprising given how high-end everything else was. The only other downside is that there isn’t a great deal to do in the immediate area. We drove out to Lake Iseo, which was lovely, but most other attractions require a bit of a drive.

Just… wauw!

We stayed in Podere Castel Merlo Resort for only 2 nights. When driving on the driveway that leads to the hotel we were immediately impressed by the +1000 year old building and the surrounding vineyards, just beautiful. When checking in it’s immediately clear that the staff is really helpful with a great eye for detail. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and really clean. The breakfast is delicious and so is the dinner served by the restaurant. The hotel has lots of facilities like a pool, sun beds, gym,…. so you can easily spend a day there. It is also a vineyard, so a wine tour with tasting while staying there is a must in our opinion. The only thing we regret about this stay is not staying longer… we’ll definitely return for a long stay :)

Excellent accommodation and pool but check the restaurant is open

The accommodation was amazing and the room was excellent, comfortable and well appointed. The pool was very good and overall it was very good

It wasn’t made clear when we booked that the restaurant was not open. Given its location, we had no choice but to drive out and I feel we should have been told or offered an alternative. It doesn’t feel you can take pride in being remote and then not offer food.

We had a wonderful weekend.

A lovely small boutique hotel with winery. We loved the very interesting wine tour and tasting. Some really lovely wines. The character of the 1000 year old building along with all the stories of its uses and restoration is captivating. Combined with the modern amenities of a good pool and located in the vineyard. Close to lake Iseo and the Franciacorta vineyards.

The food could do with a little more variety.

Nice design in bedrooms and bathrooms, and throughout the hotel. Nice bar, great wines produced on site, excellent breakfast. Every meal was excellent. Massage arranged even at last minute and was very good. Nice relaxed but professional atmosphere.

Nothing really, although its in a faily built up area, you dont notice as the whole property is surrounded by vinyards and garden.

Stunning location, lovely grounds, lovely pool, nice restaurant, warm welcome.

Rooms were not ready until about 30 mins after check in time, limited sunbeds / shades around pool and several those using the majority of the sunbeds seemed to leave the hotel at 5pm so didn’t appear to be residents. Without both items this is a 10/10 hotel and one we’d return to for a long stay.

Fantastic!

The hotel was exceptional in every way, fabulous room, comfortable and very well presented. The staff were all top notch and went out of their way to ensure we had a great 2 night stay. The breakfast and evening meal were very good. However, we were disappointed with the local town of Sarnico. It was a good half hour walk away and in our opinion not worth the walk.

The staff is extremely nice and it was lovely to talk to them and listen to their recommendations. The accommodation itself is beautiful and comfortable.

We didn't perceive that what we pay was what we received: 1) even if it's a castle, the postmodern world requires good functioning wifi–it simply didn't work and when it worked it was annoyingly slow. 2) dinner, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and their wines were top quality, but strangely lunch was such a disappointment (lettuce in a Caprese and the saddest pizza that I've ever eaten in Italy). If the hotel pays more attention to the little details, the experience will be infinitely better, like putting chocolate on the bed instead of commercial gummies, sharing the history of the castle…

A gem inbetween vines!

Spacious room, perfect division to suit our sleeping arrangements. Really enjoyed the outdoors and the restaurant. The cellar tour and degustation were a bonus. Would go back to enjoy the pool as well!

Loved our stay

A very special hotel, with spacious room, comfy bed and pillows, spacious bathroom, all tastefully decorated. Easy parking for our vehicle in a rural setting. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel very welcomed and assisted us throughout our stay. Full credit to the chef, evening meals outstanding. Pool area was fabulous.

Cool location very easy to reach and find... We were welcomed on arrival by a glass of local champagne (amazing quality) and shown around by Jennifer a very kind and helpful receptionist. The room was upgraded and it was beyond expectations. The morning after also the manager greeted us very kindly.

The breakfast could be improved, but I guess with covid they had to readapt standards.
