The Riviera was a a surprise visit from start to finish and exceeded my expectations based on experiences with higher rated hotels. As a four star hotel (at the time) on Agoda, there is so much notable about this chic, well-kept and beautifully decorated establishment. This stay was an example of small = big. Their footprint on the corner of Linsen North Road is modest for operations one would expect from a hotel that is this well managed, presentable, and English speaking. Entering the lobby and reception revealed a welcoming, calm space to explore with a ground floor cafe (avec award winning patisserie), and a huge wine selection beautifully displayed beyond reception with a temperature controlled wine room beside the hotel's (award winning) day and night restaurant. There's a second restaurant on the second floor, "The Yacht Club", where the bar is. Wish I could go! I managed a cocktail or two from them with a very special request that the hotel fulfilled beautifully. Thank you! My room on the fourth floor was much better than I expected, with the door opening onto an office space with lovely wooden flooring and visitor seating, plus thoughtful additions like a yoga mat for exercise. The room presented a good amount of space and two luggage racks, additions such as an iron and ironing board (which I always have to ask for), two suitcase racks, and USB-A slots installed by the bed beside other plugs for charging convenience. The decor and art details made it all feel quite premium. I loved that. The bathroom was well lit with a long enough bathtub (and shower curtain for when you want to shower). Green products are common these days. The hotel doesn't provide personal use items like toothbrushes and shaving tools - but that's a good thing and I always arrive prepared. The breakfast was a sensation. White table cloths. Great balance between western and easter options. A chef that prepares omelettes and eggs anyway you like them. An unpretentious cheese selection plus home made Danish. Plus a STACK of bacon. Details that I appreciated are: - the bed and pillows were comfy - each floor has a seating area outside the elevator with unique and colorful carpeting - the top floor has a gorgeous sun room where you can order from snacks and refreshments with a quick call from the provided number. It's really a VIBE once you're up there and it's a recommended stop. - nothing about the hotel was plain. - the establishment appears very well maintainained. Well done! - the parking area was, although not big considering the amount of rooms, well attended, and so clean. Ditto for the staircase heading from the basement parking to the ground floor lobby. Well done! These things are not to be overlooked when choosing an unassuming hotel like the Riviera. I will happily stay here again.

Around 10 mins walk to MRT station. The double bed is not large, around 150 cm width. Just fit for 2 adults and 1 kid. Breakfast ended at 10 and we didn’t get the chance to try. The room is tidy and clean. The construction is like ielts examination center, with an office setting upon the door front. The cafe needs reservations and the restaurant is not opened in the afternoon.

I’ve visited Taipei many times, both leisurely or for business, but this hotel impressed me the most. I had a fair to attend at the Yuanshan Expo Park, this hotel is only minutes from the venue by foot, not to mention there’s YouBike rack just outside if you ever need it. Being not a big hotel physically and not part of a major, the level of comfort and standard of service nevertheless make it truly deserve a 5-star. The hardwares were all clean and well-maintained despite the years. The room I booked (Executive doubles) was fantastic and spacious, with a big desk for work. The public areas within the hotel are quiet with lots of sofas for lounging. There’s a business centre on the 2nd floor with further meeting space and secretarial support if necessary. On ground level, there’s a couple of restaurants - one serves Chinese cuisine and one steakhouse I believe. There’s also a pastry cafe which I went during tea, it was nice. The hotel even provides free shuttle services to Yuanshan metro on a daily basis and other stops during weekends. Overall, I am very satisfied with my stay here and in many way it’s better than many of the 5-star majors I’ve stayed at in the city. It gives you that peace of mind and certainly a great value at its price point.

The good, beautiful old hotel that has been refreshed. Location is great. The doorman were a delight and were the only staff that interacted with me in a positive manner. The bad. Worst value for the money of the 3 hotels I stayed in while visiting Taiwan. This is not a 4 star property by a long shot. They advertise a great breakfast with western options, other than cooked eggs which they served to me raw, there were no other options. I specifically chose this hotel based on what they advertised. Hot water in the shower had to constantly be regulated as it went from scolding hot to warm. When issues arised, they were not dealt with correctly, and staff made me feel as though my business and stay meant nothing to them or their hotel. This hotel is 3 star hotel on amenities, but 2 star on service. I cannot recommend anyone staying here until they get their issues sorted out, or change their advertising to reflect what they are actually offering the customer.
