A mixed experience in an absolutely fantastic location with a stunning view

Our stay here was a mixed experience. The room itself felt rather spartan, having more of a mountain lodge or cabin atmosphere than a hotel. That said, the location is absolutely fantastic. The view from the hotel is stunning and really makes up for the modest facilities. The on-site restaurant is convenient, offering a decent breakfast and a varied menu for other meals. Parking is available directly in front of the hotel, and if spaces are full, you can easily drop your luggage and then park at the large park house located a bit further up the road. Overall, while the accommodation itself is quite basic, the unique setting and spectacular scenery make it worth considering if you want to wake up surrounded by the Alps.

The room vas very simple, quite small, and with the strange detail of having the entrance through the bathroom.

Sleeping with the marmots

Hotel in the nature - we could watch the marmots directly from our room's windows.

A lot of stairs to get to the room. Small room with sloping ceiling - it was difficult to get to the other side of the bed. Good breakfast with a lot of options but I don't think it's worth 19 EUR.

Would choose other place to stay and drive up for hike. Not worth the money.

The only thing was the view and location.

Breakfast had only eggs, cerial and some bread. Dinner is super expensive - like schnizel is 40eur and just average.

Beautiful views and friendly staff

Friendly staff and great views

Recommend that the website be more clear as to where to park and to which building has the sleeping rooms. The google maps and other mapping software is confusing as to which building is restaurant only and which has the sleeping rooms. The mapping software labels the buildings above as Panoramarestaurant & Kaiser Franz-Josef-Haus and no label on the building in the actual location. The signage below from the road isn’t any clearer and neither is parking. Most parking in front is labeled for buses and not clear that it’s also for the hotel. Someone visiting for the first time it appears parking is at the parking garage and you walk 500 meters to the building that is above which is only a restaurant. We enjoyed our stay just recommending clearer information in your website to avoid confusion for first time visitors.

Could be awesome with better food...

Amazing location, especially in the evening, when the crowds leave and it almost feels like you have the view all to yourself. The room itself was clean and comfortable and much bigger than expected. The view from our window was great. Worth the extra money for this roomtype.

The food is seriously overpriced and not good. But there aren't many options around that are better priced. However, the view more than made up for the pricey and disappointing food. Some of the staff wasn't that friendly.

Beautiful scenery right at your bedroom window

Our room had a view towards the Großglockner and you can step right out of the door and see marmots or ibexes in the immediate surroundings. The room was well renovated and staff was friendly. Good and rich breakfast buffet.

The reception is in the restaurant and the receptionist is the waitress at the same time. Thank god there is the internet and the visitor center for information on the surroundings because in the hotel, there is no great service orientation. The air vents that turn on automatically when turning on the bathroom light are so incredibly loud that we could not sleep when the neighbors were in their bathroom.

to get to the hotel you need a car and the pass for the toll road isn't cheap

Alphotel

a really cool place to stay, 2500 meter above sea level. The air was fresh and we slept very well. The room was standard and had an amazing view. The restaurant served very good wienersnitzel. The nearby visiting center was interesting to visit.

you have to consider you have to pay 38 euros to drive the Grossglockner Hochstrasse. No other payments for parking or to the visitors center.

The position of the hotel is perfect in front of the grossglockner.

The hotel staff is not very kind and the meals are very expensive for their value. Rooms are tiny and overpriced for their value.

before 9 Am, the whole park is empty from tourists, just wild marmots.

we were inside of the national park. so we could hanging around after and before opening.

No hair dryer, facilities like came from WW2.
