It was horrible, the rooms had pets and the entrance was terrible. To describe my stay was unacceptable and I didn’t really stay I went to another hotel. The first room I was suppose stay in door was not working. The owners had the only key card to get in the room and didn’t want to provide me with a working key. I was moved to another room where ants was in the bed, the shower was unbearable and there was stains on the couch in my room.

This hotel was suggested by our Allstar team who was traveling to compete in Regional tournament.

Nothing outside was mowed or maintained properly. Deck overlooking the lake was definitely a safety hazard. Hotel has a lot of potential but is in dire need of immediate updates and proper ground keeping. The rest of our team left after one night and stayed elsewhere. We unfortunately stayed and as the weekend approached and arrived safety became questionable.

I was in a room close to a rear exit and outside that door was trash and piled old dirty mattresses

Where do I start. When I arrived, the parking lot looked run down, there was no one behind the counter. I pressed the button to get help. I could hear her in the back having a private conversation. I stood there for a few minutes, pressed the button again, and waited a few minutes more. Finally I just said "Hello" really loudly to get attention. The lady could not find my booking. I booked a month in advance. My booking price was supposed to be $444.00 with taxes and security deposit. The lady behind the counter attempted to find it, said she could not, then tried to charge me $687.00. I showed her my reservation, and she said she couldn't find it, so the price would be the $687.00. She ended up waiving the security deposit to get me down to $547.00. I asked her if she could split tender, I had budgeted for the price I received on booking, not the price she was giving me, (all of the other hotels were booked, so I could not find another available room or I would have switched). She told me to slide my card, I let her know the card machine was not lit up, and asked if she had split the tender. She said she was working on that now, but didn't ask how much to split. So I told her I would just pay in cash. She was giving me weird vibes. Like she did not know what she was doing. I asked her at least twice if the pool was open. She said it would be open at 9am the next day. I explained that my daughter, who was meeting me there was excited about the pool. Finally as she is getting my room keys ready, she keeps asking me if I drove all the way from Mississippi by myself. It made me uncomfortable. No less than 3 men had walked past as I was standing at this counter for what felt like hours but was only about 30 minutes. Finally, I get my room keys, my daughter and her boyfriend meet me. We get our things and make our way inside.

The location was very good because it was only four minutes from my great grandchildren. I didn't have the breakfast because I spent breakfast with my granddaughter and grandchildren.

When I first arrived, I told the girl I'm traveling alone I would like a room that faced the parking lot.She said okay and proceeded to give me a room that faced the back side of the building which is no parking lot, Being that I was traveling alone I did not want that because it scares me. I did not want to be back there.So she had to go ask and she changed me to a room facing the parking lot. After. Being in that room for a while.I started to feel like my eyes were burning, my tongue was tingling because of the unbelievable cleaning odor in that room. I called the front desk.The girl came down.Her name was Sam and she walked into the room and went oh my goodness , it's a terrible smelling here, She then proceeded to put me in the room next to it.Which was a double I only needed to single but o k. That room, however, the TV was very dark and only about the middle to two-thirds of the TV worked.So it was like watching a big t.V with only the middle section working. I told him about that 3 different times and I was told somebody will take care of it.It was never , ever taken care of. This is my sixth stay at that particular hotel and it has gone Downhill every single year.This one is the absolute worst.And I will never be staying there again. THE STAFF LIES ABOUT EVERYTHING, THEY NEVER HELP WITH ANYTHING.

The room we stayed in its self was ok. But the night staff was very rude and disnt want to communicate. The breakfast was NOT like it showed in the pictures, only cereal was available. She said the waffle maker waant working but my daughter turned it on and it worked great. She was just way to lazy and didnt want to get everything out for the waffles and she refused to make sausage. The pool could be open a bit longer. The hallways looked like they had not been vacuumed in forever. There was dirt and dry wall falling a part and all over the hallways. I mean i guess we got what we paid for. Ill never stay here again though.

The entire room was filthy!! Did not receive the room I reserved. Entire hotel interior and exterior was filthy!!

My rating of 1 is only because no negative scoring is available! This was the absolute worst hotel stay in my life. Property is dilapidated. Facility is dirty. Furnishings are from a low end second hand outlet. Staff is not acquainted with the term customer service. We were told at check in that there was a $50 deposit because a previous guest had broken a TV they had had to pay for it. We checked in at 5 PM and still had to wait for a 2 bed guest room to be cleaned, even though we had made the reservation a month prior. The desk clerk said she would check to be sure everything was satisfactory. She advised us that it was. We were greeted by the previous tenants' trash, dirt on the floors, broken closet door, an ancient, dual level buffet as a desk but no chair. There was not anything about this place I could honestly recommend. I will sleep in my car before I would stay here again!

On top of not receiving my deposit back (it’s been over two weeks), the tub was dirty, the room smelled bad, the towel rack was broken, overall very sketchy run down place. Filthy and shut be shut down.

The electrical outlets in the room didn't work... Had to unplug the lamp and fridge in order to plug in our CPAP machines. You can't get additional towels for your room... On top of that, they make you carry your dirty towels to the front desk for new ones. The pool, you have to ask permission to get into that. The door lock doesn't work. Your room key won't work to open it... When you finally do get in the hot tub is broken. The water is ice f****** cold.... Oh and the wood... it's rotted around the pool. You might be scared You're going to catch a disease in there. Let's get to that breakfast they advertise..... First off it was served 2 hours late. The lady didn't even get there until like 7:00 7:30.... I've never seen white sausage. She didn't even cook it. Those things that were considered to be eggs look like they were cooked 2 days before and put on a plate and put back out . How is the 7:00 a.m. and the breakfast isn't even warm. What y'all doing back there behind that curtain......nothing. The bagels and donuts look dry. It was sad to even look at. If there's ever a hotel I can tell you I will never in my life return to it's this one.

They have a nice hot breakfast but unfortunately they did not have any orange juice or cranberry juice in the machine. The Clarion is a great value for the price and has a beautiful view on the back deck area where the Lakes at. One of the staff helped me set up my game system in the room.

Hotel staff seem kind of lazy. They let kids run around the hotel unattended with no adults. There were some ghetto kids from the south side of Chicago fighting each other in the pool area.

The only thing I liked was the fact they have complimentary breakfast

I did not like the fact that I had to switch rooms that had a non working TV and leaking AC to a room with a microwave that didn't work even if plugged and the tub in the bathroom wasn't very clean. The location itself was just horrible and I'm upset I wasted 218$.34 for a less than mediocre hotel. It was also told to me that specific clarion inn location was a former drug and prostitution ring and it very much showed. The indoor and outdoor pool water looked gross and dirty and staff let hotel guests get in there without notice of the conditions of the water. I will never EVER come back to the merrillville location. It actually made me never want to go to any Clarion Inn hotels no matter the location.

After we came back to the room after attending the event we had traveled for the night desk men followed us down the hallway saying we couldn’t bring people with us when we had changed our reservations with them to accommodate our guest. We was not greeted and welcomed to the hotel.

The place was dirty and uncapped. There is people that live there that were fighting in the middle night over drugs and money
