The Lagoon, the pools with waterslides for different age, groups, the free train that takes you across the property, and the dolphins sanctuary make this place totally unique and amazing for families. We even ended up swimming with sea turtles in the Lagoon. The view from our room in the Makai building was spectacular. It is definitely an older hotel and massive, but you can tell they are trying hard to keep it maintained.
Feels more comfortable rather than luxurious. Requires a lot of walking, which was good for us, but some people may hate. The food choices are pretty lacking, but it is close enough to a couple really great shopping areas.

Lagoon access. Secure location.
Our room had partial ocean view, was expecting a full ocean view as described when I made the booking.

Pretty much everything apart from the food options at the hotel. Great rooms, great facilities, perfect for exploring the island.
Food options were limited and came at a premium price, however you could go to local spots around and find excellent, reasonably priced food options.

Beautiful grounds with a lovely lagoon and fun rentals (though pricey). The Makai pool area was great, and the slide was a hit.
However, we booked the Huntington Tower, which doesn’t exist, and were placed in the Palace Tower that’s currently under construction. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the Palace Tower to parking and the pool. Breakfast was moved to a ballroom, which didn’t feel nice. Food options on-site are very limited, and the lunch restaurant was overpriced with a 40-minute wait just for hotdogs. The property also isn’t fully accessible through the hotel — only certain designated areas are connected.
