灯 AKARI - Nagiso Holiday rental -

Out of a couple of weeks of staying around Japan, Akari was hands down then best place, by very, very far. The place is beautifully restored and decorated with an eye of beautiful design and a great instinct for comfort. We had THE BEST night's sleep. The bedrooms are beautiful and super comfortable; the complimentary drinks were very welcome after a long walk. Shinji is a fantastic host, he shared lots of tips and helped us organise our hiking day very smoothly, and welcomed us with a smile and lots of great recommendations. Nagiso is an easy 3.5 km walk from the gorgeous village of Tsumago and part of the Nakasendo trail (can easily be added on to the Magome-Tsumago walk), or a very quick and easy bus ride. The village itself is quiet and laid back but has at least one great restaurant and a beautiful café right opposite the train station that does great breakfast. Definitely worth taking a stroll along the main road and checking out the beautiful Momosuke bridge. This was our favourite place to stay in Japan! Very highly recommend it. There was not a single thing we did not like. Akari is fantastic.

Everything, it was such a nice place to stay at and Shinji was very hospitable, can't recommend this place enough!

The house was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. I also enjoyed feeding the stray cats in the backyard :)
