Explore Rydal Cave – a former slate quarry, now a photogenic cave (1 mile). With views over the pretty Rothay Valley, venture into the town of Ambleside, just 1.5 miles away, and enjoy a spot of retail therapy or a high tea in one of the many cafes and restaurants. History enthusiasts will want to visit Wray Castle, a National Trust property (10 miles).
