Finest Retreats - Otters Holt

Location is brilliant, quiet but just a couple of mins stroll to the town centre. Parking space was so useful too. The property is cosy, comfortable and functional rather than flash. Comfy beds!

The property could do with a little updating, with semi broken blinds and areas where fixtures and decor were a little dated, or facilities were missing. None of which would stop me booking it again.

Otter's Holt is a comfortable, stone-built small family house right in the heart of Ambleside. The location is superb: within two minutes walk you have two supermarkets, two pubs, a bookshop, two cinemas, two EV recharging points, a tapas bar, a fish-and-chip shop, and any number of cafes and outdoor equipment retailers. And since it's Ambleside there are numerous walks without getting in the car: a nice selection of recommendations pinned up in the kitchen, or the Fairfield Horseshoe for the headbangers. Wifi, TV, shower and coffee machine all work very nicely. A great place to stay.

Being right in the heart of the town means that views of the mountains are limited to glimpses from the bathroom. But hey, just step outside and walk 100 yards if you want views.

The property was an attractive property excellently located in the middle of Ambleside very close to the shops .

The property was in need of an upgrade. The tumble dry wasn’t working efficiently there were no instruction manuals to show how white goods worked and the sink didn’t drain away. I also don’t expect to have to strip beds on a serviced facility

The location is first-rate. The lounge has a wonderful, traditional feel. Perfect parking immediately outside the front door. The central heating and hot water were instantly available.

On arrival, the second bedroom was freezing cold as the radiator wasn't working. The outside temperature was 4/5C during the day, dropping to zero at night so we found the cottage cold, other than in the lounge. We arrived on Thursday and the radiator was mended on Saturday morning prior to our leaving on Sunday morning. In the meantime, we had spent £19 on a portable heater. The details on Booking.com stated there was underfloor heating in the kitchen. There was no heating at all in the kitchen. The WiFi never worked during our stay causing a drain on our phone data. Netflix was advertised but this never worked either.
