Shiki - Hakone-

Our stay at Shiki Hakone was truly exceptional. Beautifully designed by architect Ataru Shio, every detail reflects thoughtful craftsmanship and elegance. Not only is the architecture outstanding, but much of the furniture was also designed by the architect himself, creating a unique and harmonious atmosphere. His signature touches can be appreciated throughout, and the chairs are both beautiful and exceptionally comfortable. The location is excellent, with a bus stop right at the front door, several lovely restaurants within walking distance, and the Hakone Open-Air Museum just a few minutes away. We especially appreciated the high quality of the linen and towels, the very comfortable beds, the amazing toiletries provided for face, body, and hair, the beautiful cutlery and plates, and the lovely Japanese pajamas, which made the stay even more special. The shower deserves a special mention — quite simply the best shower we have ever experienced! The team was always quick to respond and very helpful. Being an architect myself and also a Superhost, I was delighted to discover this gem. I truly appreciated the care and attention that have gone into creating such a special place. We highly recommend Shiki Hakone. It is far more beautiful and impressive than the pictures can capture. A truly memorable stay, and one we would gladly return to.

Shiki Hakone is a beautiful and well designed house which provided all we needed for our visit. The entertainment system, kitchen appliances and bathroom toiletries were high quality and we enjoyed them very much. The beds and linens were comfortable and and the entire house was spotless. The patio between the kitchen and TV room was a lovely space to relax as it overlooked the trees. Above all, the service provided by the staff was amazing, with prompt responses to my questions and giving helpful suggestions. We will certainly return. Thank you.

The house was built very close to the road, but thankfully traffic was not so busy although several times we heard loud engine noises at night. I would also like to suggest including clear Instruction manuals (also in English) for all the electrical appliances and washing machine. This would help prevent guests from misusing and spoiling your equipment. Finally, the driveway curb is quite high and should be resurfaced to make it gentler. Our car had some difficulty reversing from the road to the porch and almost damaged the undercarriage. Nonetheless, we had a great stay. Thank you.
