Penny Pint Cottage, Youlgrave

A lovely cottage in a very nice village just 3 miles out of Bakewell - Penny Pint is the last in line of a row of 4 (some rentable I think if you have a bigger party). Especially due to the hot weather it was particularly beneficial to have the outside space with table and chairs - great in the mornings and evenings, and relatively private and quiet. Youlgrave has pubs (3), delis, general stores, cafes (Ginger Nut does a lovely coffee and big breakfast, and the Fountain View has an excellent Italian restaurant open Fridays and Saturday evenings but you need to book as it's popular with the villagers). There are good walks straight from the village if you don't want to get in the car and also a river with a popular swimming area if it's hot. If you visit at the right time in June you'll see the Well Dressing festival. All the locals were very friendly and helpful with local tips. Car parking was no problem.

The cottage is fully equipped and cosy. There is only one bathroom so you have to take turns if there are 4 of you.

Cosy and comfortable, warm cottage. A good location although parking was not easy, Youlgrave is an attractive place with friendly people and a lot happening. A good holiday destination.

A few things missing- no salt and pepper pots as specified, and some instructions would have been good; for example we had a power cut which knowcked out the central heating- restting it was not so easy. Recycling could be explained too.

Great cottage, very clean and comfortable, well equipped kitchen, 2nd bedroom spacious enough for siblings to share. Nice neighbours, showed us where the private garden was and offered us a parking space.

A separate toilet would enhance the cottage. But appreciate that would probably be difficult to do.
