Cheong Fatt Tze - The Qing Suites

We stay 4days 3 nights at Quing Suite. We had a wonderful stay. It’s a magnificent and well restored boutique hotel. Service was good and they were going beyond their duties to accommodate us. Highly recommended if you want to stay and visit Georgetown.

Stayed for three nights at a Terrace Suite. It was a serene, peaceful reprieve from the hustle and busy streets nearby. Beautifully designed, contemporary + maintaining tradition, all at the same time. Within convenient walking distance from much food/cafe options. The staff were wonderful - I am extra-sensitive to noise and they did their best to maintain quietness of the space. The terrace was lovely in the evenings, for a quiet drink and winding down. Loved the breakfast spread, served in-suite, so we didn’t even need to get out of pajamas until midday! Being a guest here also gives you complimentary passes to The Blue Mansion tour across the road, a much more busy property. 10/10 would return.

Overall, the stay was average. In terms of facilities, Penang has many heritage-conversion hotels with limited public spaces, and Qing Suite is no exception. There is no gym or swimming pool, which makes the experience somewhat lacking. The property is recently renovated, so the room appears new; however, the bed linen had a noticeable damp, sour odor—not from in-room fragrance, but clearly from insufficient drying. This should be addressed by management. Additionally, while scent design is subjective, hotel fragrances should still consider broader guest comfort. Room cleanliness requires improvement. There were small items left behind by previous guests, and visible fingerprints on bathroom fixtures. The bath amenities’ scent was also not particularly appealing. Breakfast was average (fruit selection was acceptable). Complimentary minibar water and coffee were a nice touch. Staff were polite and helpful. The installation of a simple lift in a heritage property is also a positive. At a rate of over *** per night in Penang, the overall value for money is not compelling.
