Astamaya Signature Villas

Beautiful modern villa in a fantastic location. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The private pool was a great addition, and the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. Check-in was smooth, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful despite being close to restaurants and shops. Great value for money.

The only small downside was that some areas could benefit from a little more maintenance, but nothing that affected our stay. Everything else was excellent.

We stayed in the Delux Villa & it was very large, has high quality finishes and was very comfortable. The pool is massive (much bigger than it looks in the pictures) & was in shade most of the day which was perfect for not getting too hot & not needing to use so much sunscreen. The pool lounges were in the sun for the sunbakers among us. The villa is at the back of the property so we couldn’t hear any street/traffic noise & the house was also fairly was insulated between rooms, meaning noise didn’t travel. The staff were all lovely & very attentive to our needs.

We were initially really impressed by the villas: the size, tastefully furnished, large bedrooms and bathrooms, private pool rooftop deck, breakfast was included. We were greeted by a young man who said he would be our butler, wow, a butler! We were cooked breakfast in the morning. We were also able to arrange massages that were done in the villa. The pool was great to take a refreshing break from the heat and humidity. Luxury in the large view was the impression that was given, details indicate less. Villa 3 is like being in a fishbowl and is in full view from Villa 4

Bait & switch (2): 1)We stayed in 2 villas. The 1st proved impractical for our group of 4. Villa 3: The 3rd bedroom on the roof, smaller than the others, not much room for 2 to unpack, had detached toilet and shower rooms. One has to go out into the mugginess to use the toilet or shower then go back into the AC. The stairs were difficult for our friend with hip problems. The 2nd villa, #4 was a better fit, the rooms were equal in size, w/ en suite bathrooms. There was a surcharge to switch villas, the fee was agreed upon. However, when we checked out, the fee had been increased. I questioned the butler about it, he denied offering anything but what was printed on the checkout bill. I showed him my search history looking up the exchange rate for the amount that was agreed upon. I had looked it up during our negotiation to let the group know what our costs would be for changing rooms. He said it could not be changed and tried to convince my friends that his number was correct. 2) the Villa website says they provide FREE airport transfers. When I made the request I was told there would be a charge for each transfer, that the website was mistaken. We had to negotiate and agree to being charged the equivalent of 1 transfer for both. They also had us settle the bill the day before we were leaving. The last issue: breakfast the last morning. We requested take away breakfast for the 2 leaving early and dine in breakfast for the 2 leaving later. We requested what we thought would be easy to pack: yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fruit, juice and were told only fruit and juice. We had to negotiate for the hard boiled eggs. Last dine in breakfast: the butler team arrived later than usual knowing our friends had to leave for the airport, so all was rushed.

The ground floor area is large - location is close to nice cafes and in a quiet area

The villa was not well maintained - there was patch work done to the villa and was very noticeable. The first floor hallway has glass and mesh creating a lot of heat and the mesh does not stop bugs and mosquitos entering the villa. Looks nice but it is not practical.
