Mori Hotel 西池袋

The property is very close to a 711 convenience store for easy access to daily necessities. It is tucked away privately down a driveway that is not directly next to the road, making it very quiet. There is no dryer, but you can easily take your wet clothes to the dryers in the coin laundry on the corner to dry them quickly. The room is very spacious and cools down quickly in the hot summer months. Everything you could possibly need to cook, clean, and have a restful night sleep is all there and very convenient to use.

I wasn’t able to access wifi very easily from the room. I’m not sure if WiFi was offered, but even my cell service from the building was a bit troublesome.

- Nearby 2 stations, one major (Ikebukuro - 14 min walk) one minor (Mejiro - 13 min walk) - A 24hr 7-11 right down the street - 24hr coin laundry right next to the hostel too - Very quiet residential area for how close it is to major road - Reasonably complete appliances like a washing machine, microwave, mid size fridge etc - Plenty of dining sets & plates that'll serve way more people than the actual capacity (only 2 chairs & a small cafe table) - Host was relatively quick to response - Abundance supply of toilet paper - Aircon works fine

- Not easy to navigate to the hostel for how buried its location is, tightly hugged by other taller private residences on a road that barely fits a small car. Especially when lugging around luggage & hauls - No lift, only a super steep & narrow common staircase that gets very slippery when wet, a nightmare to get up & down when carrying luggage, or just anything that exceeds shoulder width - Wifi barely works. It had no internet only connected for show. Consulted host for the issue, given another pass code for another wifi w/ similar name but the issue persisted. Later found out that only between midnight and morning is when you'll be lucky enough to use the few mbps of internet speed - Odd furniture layout that hasn't help one bit for how cramped the space was. We were a group of 3, had to rearrange the table & 2 chairs to finally have space to open up our luggage - A shower room w/ a semi-transparent door located right next to the kitchen/dining space, no privacy nor room for changing or hanging clothes either. Rendering the whole space unusable when ever somebody goes to shower has made things more than inconvenient to say the least - Only 2 out of the 5 or so window units are openable. Same for the case of windows that actually bring in natural light. - Neat toilet w/ a heated toilet seat but having no bidet feels like an oddly unhygienic combo - Super thin walls. Thank goodness we had a quiet neighbour but we could still hear them talking in russian sometimes when were sitting at the dining space. Really explains just how thin the walls are
