Countryside escape The Oaks Nr Barnstaple Devon

Pretty much in the middle of nowhere with just beautiful countryside views all around. I can’t recommend this hidden gem highly enough! We were met by the lovely host & parked up easily. Private parking. In the last 5 mins of journey, the road is tiny & sat nav signal sketchy so look out for the little wooden signs in the hedges. The hut itself is exactly as seen in their pics, just beautiful in lovely contained grounds so our dog was safe. On arrival there was a little milk bottle with two delicious cakes & tea/coffee etc dog bowls & treats. Such a lovely extra touch! The mattress was extremely comfy on my arthritic bones! Kitchen fully equipped to cook a simple meal, a bbq, & wood to purchase if required. Tea towel/washing up liquid/cloth supplied. The wood burner was ready to light & extra wood, although too nice weather for us to need. Bathroom is compact but perfectly adequate. shower had plenty of hot water & enough pressure for a good hairwash. Inside & outside dining & sun loungers, blankets etc plenty of plug sockets & usb by the bed. We said we hadn’t had this much peace & serenity ever! Just the sound of the bird’s & occasional cow. We spent hours just relaxing with a book & enjoying the view. The goats in the next field were hilarious to watch! Even on our last morning in pouring rain we could sit on the sofa looking out on beauty! recycling & bin area, local info folder. 10 mins max drive into Barnstaple & beautiful beaches all around reachable with a car. Supermarkets 10 mins car journey. As relatives live nearby this is now our perfect location accommodation, can’t wait to come back. Perfect relaxation, thankyou X
