Very impressed with this hotel especially the friendly service. Taxis into town add a little extra cost of course, but trip time was only around five minutes or so. The best showers I've ever seen and decent bed also. Got a little rowdy late on the Saturday night with returning party goers but security were around prompt to minimise sleep disruption. Would definitely return. I hope with forthcoming change to Premier that standards are maintained.

This hotel was really good value for money. I would not bother paying for the breakfast as this was over priced. The rooms were clean and comfortable but it did say that it will be changing to a premier inn soon and the rooms will all be having a make over. I would stay here again if returning to Newcastle.

We booked this hotel for somewhere to staff following taking part in the Great North Run. It was exactly what we needed. Close to all Newcastle's facilities, clean, welcoming and run very efficiently. The rooms were very spacious and nicely equiped.

the tulip inn was everything we could have asked for for a weekend away to newcastle. our room was very spacious, clean and had a brilliant shower. would definately go back. was about £6 for a taxi into quayside from hotel, which our group found very reasonable

4th trip to Newcastle.Until now,have stayed in 4-star hotels.Not any more!Tulip Inn may be 3-star,but far outshines the 4-star ones.Stayed for 2 nights.Excellent standard of accommodation and service.Lovely double room.Fab double shower/bathroom facilities.A nice touch was when we accidentally left our "do not disturb" sign on the door while we were out.When we returned a sealed bag had been left outside our door with fresh towels and spare bathroom accessories in it, plus spare coffee/tea making shachets, with a personally signed note from the housekeeper!Ate in restaurant.Very pleasant-nicely decorated,relaxing;reasonable value for money.Very friendly staff.This was a very comfortable and tastefully decorated hotel.Well worth being that little bit further out of the Centre.Highly recommended!

Sorry to disagree with most of the reviews, but this is one of the most uncomfortable stays I have had. I live in Edinburgh but come from Newcastle, I was heading out on holiday from Newcastle and me and my boyfriend needed somewhere to stay just for one night close to Newcastle and close to my parents house in Dunston, for a stay where we wouldnt spend alot of time in the hotel this appeared to me the perfect hotel at the perfect price At first view this hotel is yes quite impressive for a 3 star hotel, and yes the staff seemed friendly enough - but the main thing I needed from this hotel was a nice comfy bed (as I had an early flight in the morning) and a nice quiet room (which I had requested) The bed had a big dent in the middle and all night my boyfriend and I kept rolling into the centre, the pillows are the most uncomfortable I have had the misfortune of sleeping on, and quiet room, fair enough we were on the side of the hotel, but were kept awake on and off til 4pm in the morning with taxis arriving into the hotel carpark full of drunken hen/stag revellers. the other people who stated that this was a comfortable hotel, must have been amongst these revellers and been so drunk they could have slept anywhere. very disappointed as this seemed the perfect place to stay when visiting my family and friends in Newcastle, but I guess in this case you get what you pay for
