This place is awesome, hosts were super friendly and the room was great.

Was a beautiful house and the room we had was great. Bed was a nice size and the ensuite was clean. Had tea, coffee and milk which was lovely and the fridge was great for storing out items. The room we booked also had a table and dinnerware which was super useful.

Such a beautiful room with lovely decor. Peaceful nights sleep. The four poster bed was extremely comfy! Very clean and tidy. The host was very friendly, great at getting back to us and gave us some very helpful local information.

Cosy, comfortable, really attractive, friendly

Property was exactly as described. I particulary liked the cutlery etc (and fridge and toaster) for sorting out breakfast and a snack after I had arrived. I had a bit of trouble finding it in the dark but coincidentally pulled up right outside when I had decided to park and walk up the street to locate it. Thanks for everything.

Decor, attention to detail, cutlery and crockery, even a little fridge, host came out to meet us as it was dark and we were struggling to find the cottage!

Excellent decor and facilities - very homely.

Incredible decor and facilities. The bed was a little too soft for my personal preference, as I need a bit of back support really. Both front and room door were a little difficult to lock - required a bit of jiggling / leaning.

Could hear TV / conversations from opposite room - wasn't a massive problem. No toilet roll in the morning.

Beautiful stay in a stunning room with great facilities

The room was lovely, super comfy bed, gorgeous warm snuggly duvet, decor was beautifully done, little touches like the little wooden mouse in the bathroom, and added bonus of a fridge and dishes so we could order food in. Absolutely stunning and close to Ullswater. Great value for money.

Excellent value for money and a trouble-free stay.

The hosts were attentive and discreet when necessary, the room was sufficient for our needs and the double four-poster bed was comfortable to sleep on. There was also a nice HDTV providing adequate entertainment when we needed it and the hosts were also very attentive and informative during the check-out process.

I feel that some bottled water in the mini-fridge would be very welcome after a long journey and hopefully this extra gesture will not impact upon the room costs as bottled water can now be sourced very cheaply from most wholesalers (try Costco as one example). We used the toaster to make toasted sandwiches, although sadly there were no butters, jams or honeys to use and so offering these little extras will certainly go noticed and appreciated by guests. I am acutely aware that this is all a learning curve for hospitality establishments and so I trust that the hosts can view these comments as constructive feedback and certainly not dislikes, as there was little to fault during our enjoyable yet brief stay. As an addendum, the hosts were kind enough to recommend the George and Dragon pub as a reputable food and drink venue; however, our experience was not a positive one (check for unwarranted service charges on top of overpriced food) therefore the hosts would be wise to suggest other venues instead, as they genuinely meant well and only wanted us to have a nice dining experience. Sincere thanks to you both and always remember to keep enjoying what you do.

1 night stopover breaking up a long drive

Friendly hosts, super clean and well furnished room with en suite. Really comfy bed and a great value stay as a base for your lake District trip! Bonus points for always smelling nice.

Great place to stay, which allowed us to easily travel to the locations we wished to visit.

The property was absolutely lovely. The interior was decorated tastefully and the bed was so comfortable. The shower was very modern and clean. The room had a toaster, kettle, teas and coffees, and a fridge. There was a table to eat at and plenty of storage for clothes. It was the perfect location to be near Penrith and Shap and for sightseeing trips. Much nicer and cheaper alternative to the premier inns, travelodges, and other hotels in Penrith.

Clifton hasn’t got a local shop so make sure you get what you need in Penrith or other nearby towns.
