Nice Stresa - Appartamento Isola Madre

Very clean, close to the square and ferry terminal.

Perfect location close to piazza

There was some noise from street late at night but you expect that staying close to bars etc. it didn’t bother us a great deal

It was right in the centre of the old town, just steps from a piazza with restaurants and cafes, but was quiet and peaceful. The bedroom, which was upstairs along with the bathroom and laundry room, was huge and had beautiful French doors leading to a balcony with a view of the hills over the rooftops. The living area was nice and also had a lovely balcony. The kitchen was small but functional for preparing breakfasts. It was only a 10-15 minute downhill walk from the station and only 5 minutes to the lakefront. Andy the host was very communicative and flexible.

It is up a couple of flights of stairs which may be a problem for those with heavy luggage. The bedroom is up a tiny flight of internal stairs so it was impossible to take the suitcases up. The bathroom was lovely but also on the small side. These issues were fine for us but may not suit everyone. Overall we loved the apartment.

Beautiful apartment in a location that can’t be beat! Very clean and spacious apartment located in the pedestrian area. Comfortable bedding and sound proof windows so it’s quiet when you want to sleep, but also nice to open them for a breeze and relax to the soft sounds of music from the square. Kitchen is well equipped and the clothes washer is in its own room with plenty of space for drying rack. Photos provided by host are very accurate. Walking distance to the train station for the Maggiore Express to Locarno and an easy walk to the boat dock to visit the Islands, other villages along the lake, and the beautiful Villa Taranto with it’s Tulip maze and amazing views (thank you Andy for the recommendation!) Wonderful communication with our host who provided great recommendations and checked in on us several times. We highly recommend this nice apartment and the Nice Stresa Team!

Of course there are steps, you’re in Italy! The exterior steps were easy to navigate and not an issue for us. The interior steps that lead up to the bedroom with one of the balconies, the bathroom and the laundry room are a bit tight on the turn when toting bags but not an issue without bags.
