Aura Home Stay

Very nice quiet cosy place, with kitchen and ‘living room’. Spacious comfortable rooms + good bathrooms. Very well maintained and clean! 10 min. walk to Fort or to centre.

Breakfast was (below) average. No pool (but that was clear upfront - just fyi).

The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was nicely presented with wooden furniture. Air-conditioning was good.

Informtion provided on Booking.com didn't always match the reality. Towels were small (not bath towels). There was no bath or TV. As the housekeeper was in charge of making breakfast, teas and coffees, the kitchen was not available for us to use. It would have been nice to have been able to use the kitchen to make our own breakfast, teas and coffees. It would have been helpful if it had been specified clearly. Furthermore, when we came to pay for the accommodation, the property insisted on cash payment. It was lucky that we had enough cash among the three of us. This information above should have been made clear in the listing. We also had an interesting situation when the owner of the place decided to host their own family dinner gathering without any prior notice. It was awkward as they were using the dinning room, kitchen and balcony when we got back to the property after our day out in Batticoloa. As a result we couldn't use any of the communal areas and had to move their food items from the dining table to use the space. We felt unwelcomed and unconfortable, so went to bed early. Although the owner herself was there nobody made any effort to explain or apologise for the impromtu event. In fact the owner closed door to the balcony and continued with their dinner. The housekeeper apologised after but we didn't feel he needed to apologise as it wasn't anything to do with him.
