    Our stay at Riviera Resort in Batticaloa was a truly relaxing and memorable experience. Tucked away beside the serene Batticaloa Lagoon, this charming resort is perfect for anyone looking to unwind in nature while still being close to the town. The setting is absolutely beautiful — lush gardens, peaceful water views, and plenty of open space to relax. It feels like a quiet retreat far from the noise, yet it’s just a short ride to the beach and historical sites like Batticaloa Fort. The room was clean, comfortable, and simple — exactly what you need for a peaceful night’s rest. I loved waking up to the sounds of birds and the gentle breeze from the lagoon. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. One of the highlights was the meals. The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentically Sri Lankan Batticaloa style. Dining in the open-air area by the garden felt cozy and personal — a perfect way to experience local hospitality. If you’re looking for a peaceful, nature-friendly stay in Batticaloa that’s affordable and full of local charm, Riviera Resort is the place to go. I’d definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the east coast of Sri Lanka. Special thanks to Mr. Ebenezer Devadarshan, a truly friendly and kind person. We thoroughly enjoyed his Batticaloa Model Railway, which felt like a real-life railway brought to miniature with incredible detail and dedication. His passion was evident in every aspect, and the way he explained even the smallest features captured our full attention. It was a truly memorable experience, and we appreciate all the hard work he has put into it. Another person we will never forget is Mr. Adhil, who was one of the key reasons we enjoyed our stay so much. He always greeted us with a warm smile and genuinely asked how everything was, offering honest suggestions that truly enhanced our experience and made it more memorable. We also had the pleasure of trying one of their signature dishes as Adhil suggest – Pittu with Batticaloa-style crab curry – which was one of the most flavourful dishes we've ever had, rich in unique and delicious flavours. A special thank you to Adhil as well for the refreshing mocktail – it was just perfect! We truly hope to come back again to see all of you wonderful people.

    The location of the resort is very good, but unfortunately the property has aged & needs a lot of upgradation. I hope the management will take care of it.
