Clean, newly renovated, great shower and facility, quiet location. Great host, very responsive and easy check in process.

The location, decoration, coziness and convenience of the cottage was excellent. A good base to explore this interesting region of Essex.
Only having one toilet downstairs meant the property is not suitable for the very young or anyone with reduced mobility due to the steep and narrow stairs.

The cottage was lovely, very clean and tidy and the decor was tasteful. It was lovely and warm and we enjoyed the log burner too, very cosy.
The owner went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and special. Lydia came with her partner to relight the boiler when it went out due to the freezing weather.
And she returned a corkscrew we accidentally left behind. Thank you Lydia.
Nothing....it was great.

Beautifully renovated, host was great on communication and offered early check in 😊 with very comfortable beds. Ideally situated in Wivenhoe and close to our relatives, and quaint location down a pathway. Our new favourite cottage for visiting Wivenhoe

Lydia went above and beyond to make our stay so perfect, allowing us to check in slightly earlier and slightly later and also leaving a birthday card and gift which was very unexpected and ever so kind. The cottage itself was spotless and very cosy. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Parking was no problem, and such a convenient location. The little touches really make a house a home, and we all really did feel at home here. Not always an easy thing to achieve, but this place was just perfect. Thanks again Lydia for your kindness.

We had a wonderful stay at Cottage of Content in Wivenhoe. The cottage was very cosy and comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The location was ideal for us—peaceful, charming, and perfectly placed for exploring the area. We slept really well, and the whole place was spotless and beautifully kept. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a clean, cosy, and well-located stay in Wivenhoe.

Fantastic, quiet, and peaceful location but close to the centre of the village and shops/ cafes/ pubs. Really well equipped and decorated/ fitted out cottage. Clean and comfortable kitchen, lounge and beds. Great well fitted bathroom and shower. If your travelling on the train like we did, this is 5 mins from the station and even closer for the buses. Great place!
This place is tucked away, which is great. If you arrive after dark like we did, can be a bit hard to find. Look out for the street name Denton Terrace, fixed to the first floor of the first house on the terrace.

We loved the Cottage of Content, it was clean, well equipped, cosy and very comfortable. The only downside for us, being an older couple, the stairs were very steep and parking was away from the cottage but otherwise it was perfect.

Perfect for the two of us.. beautifully clean, smelt wonderful. Everything you could want for a short break. We slept really well.. peaceful at night ( and day actually) and a few minutes stroll from the Quay and the Wivenhoe Trail. Brilliant communication from Lydia from start to finish.
Nothing..we loved every minute!

Beautifully decorated, everything you might need for a short trip away with the family and in an excellent location.
The fact we couldn’t stay longer.

Cute little cottage with pleasant interior. Had a wonderful nights sleep. The beds were very comfortable. The location is very quiet also.

The bed was comfortable with nice bedding, the house was simply but beautifully decorated, everything was clean. There was all the equipment we needed in the kitchen (note, we only stayed one night). We didn't meet the owner, but communication via messaging was very good and the instructions about access and all the equipment indoors were clear. Within a short walking distance of a Co-Op grocery store and a short and easy walk to the centre of Wivenhoe (and the quay). I would certainly stay here again.
It was perfect for us, but the house is small (which the description made clear) and, although it has two good-sized bedrooms, there is only one (small but adequate) shower room on the ground floor which is absolutely fine for a couple or small family but might be a bit inconvenient for 4 adults. Also, access to the front door is along a slightly overgrown pedestrian lane and has steps from the road - it was fine for us to negotiate even with two bicycles with panniers, but I think it might be tricky for someone with mobility problems.

Convenient for visiting the friends I wanted to see. Excellent comms with its owner. Well-equipped and very clean.
Stairs are very steep with small tread - making bathroom trips a bit perilous in the middle of the night.
Loo roll supply appeared very limited (just one half-empty roll, no spares), unless I missed them somewhere, but I was only there the one night so it didn't really matter for this booking.

Really lovely feel. Superb condition. Very cosy. Everything you need. Really comfortable beds. We had a really chilled stay.
We were a little worried about parking to begin with as the road was full but sure enough a space became available very quickly

Excellent stay, very clean, ideal position just off the high street. Good communication with the owner. Comfortable beds good shower.
Minor issue - the stairs in the property are very short and steep. Wasn’t a problem for us but could be for someone not so agile.

Very cozy. Booked it for our extended family (parents and two teenage daughters) who came to see us in Wivenhoe. They loved the property and found it very comfortable.

We had a very cosy stay at the Cottage of Content! So beautifully decorated and in a very quiet and pretty location. For us, a family of four with 2 children was just perfect! We were there for the Tigers Acro competition and we loved being so close to the venue (university of Essex) but also so close to Colchester for shopping as well as Wivenhoe, a very pretty village with walking distance pubs and shops. The cottage benefits from easy parking & a lovely pretty garden with seating area at the front. Also the owner is very responsive and attentive so 10 out of 10 for the Cottage of content!
