This quaint boutique resort gives vacationers a unique sense of privacy in this popular tourist town. Each villa has a full kitchen and its own balcony or patio with breathtaking ocean views. The resort also features a series of five cascading pools with an adjacent pool bar and an on-site restaurant, which is available for all meals and room service. Cobblestone streets adjacent to the resort lead to the wonderful beaches, restaurants, and activities that Puerto Vallarta is famous for.
Villa Hortensias offers Marcela guests over 1,900 square feet of living space with a wraparound outdoor patio and truly spectacular views of the Pacific and the resort's terraced gardens and waterfalls.
This majestic fourth-floor villa is defined by its smooth canterra stone archways that are adorned gracefully with delicate Mexican rosewood, a luxurious outdoor patio, one-of-a-kind native furniture and indigenous art, and two stunning bedrooms.
Upon entering this jaw-dropping villa, you will be greeting by panoramic views of the living and dining rooms and, just beyond, outside the windowed accordion doors, the glistening blue ocean.
The master bedroom is awash in blues and dark woods, inviting you to slip inside and experience a rare kind of serenity. The master bathroom also features an oversized square-jetted Jacuzzi soaking tub that is bookended by windows to let light and a breeze flow through in addition to its beautifully tiled stall shower, sink, and toilet. This bedroom suite's doors open up to a covered patio overlooking the terraced gardens and waterfalls as well as providing a clear sightline to the ocean and the old town of Puerto Vallarta below. The second bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and is alive with teal walls, a pink-and-yellow striped quilt, rustic wood furniture, and closets with enough storage to accommodate a stay of any length. Both bedrooms in Villa Hortensias have HDTVs so you can lounge in total comfort.
You can brew your morning coffee and cook in the villa's impressive kitchen with marble countertops, a 6-burner stove, and commercial grade oven. You'll also find a blender, tea kettle, dishwasher, microwave, and all of the pots, pans, stoneware, and flatware you will need to feel right at home during your stay at the Marcela Resort & Spa.
Another advantage of this amazing villa is that its entrance lets you out at the street level of our campus, allowing you to easily walk across the street to our on-site fitness center and luxury spa.
Villa Hortensias features individually-controlled air conditioning units throughout, ceiling fans, and colorful sconces in every room, a staple of the Marcela Resort. Providing every convenience, Villa Hortensias additionally offers a full-size washer and dryer and complimentary Wi-Fi.

We loved the Marcela Resort. It was a 2-bedroom / 2-bath unit, and very large - at least by US standards. From the wrap-around deck, it had an amazing view of the pool, down the mountain, and out to the ocean. It had a full kitchen, separate jacuzzi, and in-unit laundry. The price was still very reasonable.
The whole property was well-kept and nicely decorated. It's also very picturesque - the building itself is really interesting, and the gardens all over the grounds are full of pathways with landscaping and beautiful nighttime lighting. And the pool is 5(!) levels, going down the slope of the mountain. We spent a lot of time hanging out at the pool in the sun.
All of the front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and spoke English well. They even kindly walked us through the "cave room" upon our request, since it was vacant that night - definitely the most cool and unique hotel room I've ever seen in person!
The only downside we experienced was that the room did not have good soundproofing. We were on the main "lobby" floor, so it's probably much less of an issue on the upper floors. Fortunately, it was pretty quiet at night.
The location is a ~10-min walk from the Zona Romantica. This could be a disadvantage, but we appreciated that it was free of the noise from the nightlife.
And Ubers are very cheap in Puerto Vallarta, so getting a ride back is only a couple of US$.
