About this apartment rental

Set in private grounds alongside Edinburgh Castle mound, this delightful ground floor apartment and garden offers stunning views of the Castle in one of the city's best locations. In the heart of the Grassmarket, which features bistros and craft shops, Castle Wynd South offers bright and modern ground floor accommodation – it also boasts its own outdoor terrace and shared garden. Sainsbury Local is just a few minutes walk and the Royal Mile and major Edinburgh attractions are around the corner, so you can enjoy all the city sights from your own comfortable and very central base. The Castle itself is on your doorstep: take the shortcut straight up the Castle Wynd South steps to reach the Castle gates. It is owned by Ralph & Sheila Averbuch (The Principle) and managed by Edinburgh SC (Self Catering) Ltd on their behalf.

ACCOMMODATION

Lounge/Dining Room

Offers comfortable leather sofas and a dining table with chairs for four, plus flatscreen TV and complementary broadband. The room also features patio doors to the sunny terrace and stairs up to the shared lawn, with its mature apple tree and breathtaking views up to the Castle.

Kitchen

Equipped with modern fittings including fridge, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher , washing machine and cutlery & crockery for four. There is no freezer in this property.

Bedrooms 1 and 2

Each room offers a comfortable double bed and an integrated closet giving ample space for clothing and luggage. Each room has a window looking onto Castle Wynd South and each is located off the main hallway, with its shared bathroom.

Bathroom

Featuring pushbutton electric shower, sink and WC, the bathroom also offers a full-size bathtub.

Additional information
All gas & electricity costs are included in the rental.
* Linen and towels are provided.
* A modest amount of complimentary tea and coffee for arrival.
* Ironing facilities and a hair dryer are provided.
* Street parking is available but is expensive, various longer term parking solutions can be given.
* The airport bus drop off point and main railway station are approximately 400 m away.


A deposit of 25% is payable on booking and the outstanding balance of the rental price must be received 2 months prior to your arrival date. For bookings made less than eight weeks before your arrival date the whole rental price falls payable at the time of booking. Please note that a separate 200 pounds refundable key/security deposit must be provided prior to arrival. This is rescinded 2 days after departure.

Cancellation
In the event of cancellation the following terms and charges will apply -
a. 6 months or more prior to arrival – full refund minus a 5% admin fee of the total booking amount with a £50 minimum.
b. 42 days or more – 25% of the total booking fee.
c. 41 days or less – full rental fee.

These cancellation terms DO NOT apply to any bookings made under specific "Non refundable" offers on any OTA's such as booking.com, Airbnb, VRBO .

Please consider obtaining personnel holiday insurance to cover this and other potential losses.

Restrictions

* No smoking is allowed within the apartment.
* Well behaved pets by prior arrangement.
* Strictly no parties - Guests must be quiet between 21:00 and 08:00 to respect neighbouring properties.

Access Arrangements

A "meet and greet" service is operated , whereby you will be met at a property at a pre-arranged time to give access. Full instructions of this procedure can be found in the secure guest area after a booking has been completed. It is very important that an approximate arrival time is provided before arrival for this process. Entry is from 14:00 onwards but if nobody has booked to depart on your day of arrival it will probably be very suitable for us to give you entry as early as possible. Departure is by 10am (a guaranteed late departure up to 20:00 can be obtained for 50% of that daily rate. Please contact us if you want to utilise this facility and a price will be calculated).

Please note that arrivals after 19:00 will incur a range of late arrival fee.

**LATE ARRIVAL: fees, 19:00 - 22:30 - 15 pounds, 22:31 - 00:00 - 30 pounds and 00:01 - 02:00 - 50 pounds. The latest access can be given is 02:00, otherwise it is given at 08:00 the next day. ESC accept no liability for any costs involved in alternative accommodation for this 6 hour period.

Each bedroom has a standard double bed.


Getting there

There are three options to get from Edinburgh airport to the city centre, all take approx 30-35 minutes. The main rail station Waverley is approx 700 metres from the Castle Wynd apt. Please note prices are for guidance only and may be subject to change, please check directly with websites

1. Edinburgh trams, approx every 8-10 mins (Sunday 12-15 mins), right outside terminal, the nearest drop off point for Castle Wynd is the Prince St stop which is approx 700 metres away. Cost 9.50 pounds for adults and 5.00 pounds for children for a RETURN journey.

2. Airport express bus, every 15 minutes right outside terminal building, drop off point on Waverley Bridge approx 700 metres from Castle Wynd. Costs 8.00 pounds per person for a RETURN journey.

3. Taxi, follow the signs to the taxi area outside terminal building and will cost 25 - 35 pounds for a one way journey. However a taxi will drop you off right outside the property you have booked.

We cannot recommend this property enough. The communication with agent was really helpful right from us getting off the train. 15 minute walk and had a very friendly meet and greet. Right next to the Castle and Royal Mile. Great restaurants and very characteristic pubs most with a history attached. So much to see all within walking distance. We had the pleasure of sunshine o e day followed by snow the next so had a great comparison Thankyou. We shall be returning

The apartment is in a great location but needs a bit of updating. The flooring needs replacing. The bathroom could do with a bath mat, a handle to help you get into the bath and the toilet seat needs replacing and fixed. There is no instructions on how to use the oven and the dials have been worn away.
